Got my blind eye back : cataract removed

Had the right eye cataract, which virtually blinded the eye, removed yesterday.
They put an obscure patch & plastic cover to protect.

This morning in bed. Thought what is that bright light. Shut "Good Eye (scheduled for same 14 days time)"
& it was the revived eye bright white & black & items very clear & precise. Wow exciting

Writing just to re-assure that there is nothing to be worried about in this procedure. If you have
cataracts get it seen to early. I did not. Plus the cataract in the right eye deteriorated at a pace.

Procedure. A thing slipped in the eye to enable anesthetist to inject at the rear of the eye.
About 3 mins. No pain & you are not aware of anything actually happening

Into theatre. You do not see a thing. I can only describe it as bizarre. Like a trip into outer space
with patterns you see & small tinkling noise of the machine with water slightly seeping down the cheek.

Surgeon after 8 mins patch on eye. There we are Laurie went perfectly all is well. Blimey though he had only commenced.

Back to recovery room & a very most disappointing end a coffee & superb succulent egg & cress sandwiches. :tears-of-joy:

    Laurie

Great stuff. Glad it was painless and trouble free. Only trouble is, any mistakes you make while modelling will be glaringly obvious :tongue-out3:

That's great news Laurie and reassuring for the rest of us who may need similar treatment.

Now now Timothy. Actually been using very strong magnifiers & I was at loss as to what was normally seen.

So right Jim do not hesitate. With the other eye done hope I will only need magnfiers for very intricate stuff.
Making sure the cress in the sandwich has been washed :rolling:

Thanks Dale very nice of you. Just one eye so far. But as the first was for all intents & purposes blind it is a great day.

Actually weird. the new eye so to speak is seeing white. The not so good is a slight beige look.

It would appear that I will have to airbrush all my aircraft to give a daylight rather than dusk look :rolling:

Well done Laurie, I've had one done due to a detached retina. What I notice is the difference in light in a darkish room, one eye seeing brighter colours and the old one muted.
Unfortunately for me the although the eye was saved I have scaring which has resulted in having to have a prism in my glasses.I have to model with the eye covered due to the scaring causing a slight halo effect.
Been told I will have to have the good eye done at some point, when the cataract is "ripe " The last surgeon I saw said don't worry about it , its years away from needing to be done !

Yes the eye with the cataract removed is very bright colours distinct Superb in fact. The other eye looks like washing coming out of a washing machine yucks.

Yes the optician kept telling me years ago. Then next time will be either this year or next. Next was to late. Get in early John.

Splendid news Laurie. Maybe you'll tackle a 144 kit, the sort of thing I avoid like the plague.

Your optimism is thankfully well misplaced :tears-of-joy:
