    Is it too much?

I sold my Sukhoi kit on Ebay last night and was charged 13% for the privelage, seems a bit much to me. They have also changed the system of payouts, now it has to go into your bank account so it will probably be 3 days before I get paid unlike the old Paypal system where it was almost instant, someting to bear in mind if you sell on Ebay. The fact that I am a Scotsman has no bearing on this moan. :smiling5:

I don't like the new system either.

They charge 12.8% plus 30p for the joy of selling something.

It's sad to say that you don't have a great deal of alternatives - there are other sites, but none with the reach of ebay, or the convenience!

Every now and then they use to do selling offer, £1 max selling fee. I can also list for free, so waiting for another £1 offer. Sold over £1500 worth over the last year. As Dave said not much choice out there

Evilbay does the same thing over here in Germany. I put all my items in starting at €1 so there is no charge there. When you sell your item, they pay it directly onto your bank account. This only takes 2 days till it's booked. They charge almost 12% for the sale here and that nots too bad. Before, sometimes you had to wait up to 2 weeks (after sending reminders) before a dumb buyer remembered he had to pay for what he bought. Now, you can send the item off the next day and know it will be paid for.

We also have evilbay klein anzeige (small sales) where there are no charges to sell something privately. The prob here is everyone wants you to lower your set price and you spend more time answering mails than it's worth. Then they want cheap postage too!!! In the normal evilbay, it seems like a lot to pay in charges, but like said before, there isn't too many selling games on the www.....

I suppose you just have to put up with it and I don't sell much on Ebay anyway but I thought it was a bit rich charging on the full amount including the postage which the buyer is paying anyway.

              Spot on Dave.

What is the alternative. And there is not. Not like it but you have to lump it.

Just after I was mentioning this to Dude 1 this comes up.
I would have to wait and be like Bob and take the offer of the £ 1 max selling fee. Have never sold on EBay but bought a lot, the whole idea of selling like this is rather alien and worrying .

Like bob I usually wait till the £1 selling fee offer cones up then list things , as said its a bit much the percentage they take but there's no credible alternative.

John I as well have not sold anything on Ebay. 100% cause I am lazy in that way.

Matter of interest why do you think it is alien. Used to sell by paper advertising which is little different to Ebay. Also sold a lot as the local paper runs an on line scheme where you place, as you would in the paper, with pictures details which can be seen on line.

Certainly bought a lot on Ebay. Got to be virtually the only place you can get hold of old kits.

I buy all my kits from Ebay and then sell them there too as I don't have a permanent base and nowhere to store / display them .....
Always fun to try to make a profit on them !

Aside from Ebay, my first port of call is KINGKIT I've bought many old models from them since 2017!
I used to sell a lot on ebay, but it became a real hassle packing & posting parcels, and I eventually gave up!

Laurie the mere thought of having to pack a kit up, take it to the post office, then hope the the buyer doesn't moan is probably the main reason, oh plus the uploading of photos etc etc. Dude 1 aka Allen has it off to a fine art, suppose its like anything new , once used to it its child's play.

I have stopped selling now on Fleabay, did not like their new payout system and another third party holding my money and having my details.

I buy from there but no more selling...shame, as I enjoyed it.

I've also bought several from KingKit and have found their prices and service very good.
