    1/87 Trident Miniatures

    Evening,

I've managed to acquire 2 kits from above manufacturer.
Anyone have views or knowledge/ experience on these kits?

    TIA

Hi Lee are they white metal, resin or plastic kits? I have experience with the plastic kits, but not the other two. Rick H.

Which vehicles are they.....chances are if they are WW2 German, I have probably built them. Not done any modern or NATO stuff. The mouldings are nice and crisp and the plastic is fairly soft and is easy to work with. I did run into one problem with the 251 D half-tracks....they are about a scale foot too narrow. Also the diameter of the front tires is too small. Seems that Trident didn't make the same mistakes with their 250 half-tracks though and they turned out pretty well. If you have any specific questions just fire away. Rick H.

Nice one, thanks Rick... I have the Ausf A or G panther and the [COLOR=rgb(32, 33, 34)]Beobachtungspanzer.

I have built several of the Trident Panthers......the only obvious deficiency in my mind was the main gun barrel looks a little "skinny". I turned replacement barrels and added a lot of small details as well as aftermarket tracks and they turned out pretty good to my eye. Here is one example. Rick H.Click image for larger version

Looks good Rick, I'll build them and then shelve them, I won't go crazy on either

Alright!! I hope you post a build thread on them as I would be very interested in seeing how other folks attack the "Sub" Braille Scale. Who knows you might even get hooked on 1-87 Scale once you find out how little space is required to display them, once completed. :thumb2:

Have built a few As, Ds & Gs. Like Rick says tracks are primitive. Nothing some mud won't cure if you don't want to use aftermarket. I like them a lot as they take aftermarket PE quite nicely.

Hauler makes a couple of PE sets for Panthers. They also offer PE add-on tracks for Panthers. You just have to remember to shave off the cleats from the originals before adding the Haulers. The ones Rick used are the best but hard to find.
