Really early delivery from postie ( got me out of bed! ) an odd one, this!
From ebay - this is the ICM 1/48 Polikarpov I-16 Model 24................... The seller has added a ROPos Finnish decal sheet & a couple of stickers on the front. ( don't know if ICM approved this! ). The original model is complete with original decals, so I can go with the original markings if I choose.
Cost was <£16 delivered, - nice price :smiling::thumb2:

Hi all
So an extremely productive morning and lunchtime......I gave the lawn a quick trim before I scarified it and Junior aerated it ahead of the winter. We then went on a 2.5 mile walk to get out of the house and him off the screen, stopping off at the supermarket for a few bits and pieces.
On the way we also passed the local Age UK book shop where I picked up the book and saw the DVD set at the till, which I've been thinking about for while as I've never seen it.....all in £7 and of course the money has gone to charity - £6 cheaper than a certain streaming site will charge you for the box set!

BoB is a superb tv series Andrew. I have watched it SO many times. Day of Days, Crossroads and Bastogne being my fave episodes. Never could get into the follow on 'The Pacific' but still excellently produced. Enjoy!Comment

I was reminded about it on here not that long ago and I'm also wading my way through the Al Murray James Holland podcast. One of the older episodes I recently listened to was an interview with one of the writers.Comment

It was premiered on D-Day in Normandy on (I think) Utah beach. We were holidaying in Normandy at the time and started at Pegasus bridge and worked our way through to St Marie Eglise on the same day, through revellers, reenactors and visiting veterans. American Para veterans were bussed in specially for it. The French were very much in evidence getting all the veterans to sign their photographic history books. We had lunch on the sea front at Arromanche in an atmosphere that must have been like the real liberation. A truly great day!
Never saw Spielberg or Hanks though :disappointed2:
Oh, and I never got into Pacific either. It just seemed too bitty and abstract, possibly like the conflict itself.Comment

Absolutely agree. I would say there isn’t a bad episode in there, and the clips of the actual guys talking about the events really makes it. The book is worth reading as well.

I'd been thinking of getting one of those vortex mixers, but didn't fancy the cheapo plastic ones, so I searched for laboratory mixers. Found one for £30, but postage was another £10. Not surprising as it weighs 4 1/2 kg!
Makes less noise than the nail varnish shaker I bought a couple of years ago. The rubber feet it sits on have perished, but they should be easy enough to replace. It's certainly very effective. Now I need to contrapt some kind of elastic strap to hold a paint bottle in the whirly bit so I can get on with something else while it's doing its thing.
