      Hi all

So some arrivals in the past week!

      ATB

      Andrew

      -------------------------------

With your entry to the MK Model show aka ModelKraft (last Sunday), you get a free kit if you want it.....nothing flash but no complaints. This the ZVEZDA German Motorcycle R-12 and sidecar snap together kit.

The event also raised £5,000 for two local charities - more info here...

Next up two examples of my lack of backbone.....

This was a recommendation from Nick aka Niho, for the princely sum of £3.17 delivered.

Next up our very own AlanG without any thought about my bank balance, nor my wife's reaction and with complete dereliction of duty of one who is fulfilling the moderator role, only went an recommended this....I mean really!!!.....he might as well have put it the online basket himself and press 'buy'...... :smiling5:

And finally this.........with which I am VERY pleased......but more about that later!

So another arrival today....less than £4 second hand and in almost mint condition! A recommendation from the Al Murray/James Holland podcast.

Regular viewers may remember my attempt at building an ICM 1/35 G4 Staff Car that ended in failure due to being too complicated for my skill level but also just too complicated for its own good.

It is now sitting in a dark corner having a long hard think about what it did.

However.... I do have an ICM 1/35 ton & a half Chevy G7107 waiting in the wings that the kids gave me for Fathers Day last year and there is no way I can fail to finish it.

In an attempt to make sure that I am fully informed as to how it should go together I felt I had no option except to purchase this for reference & inspiration...

/ So happy. I've wanted one of these since I was 17. Joking aside, I'll have absolutely no excuse for getting the model wrong now.

Just so I’m not confused….easily done these days Dan….are you saying you needed reference material for a truck build so you bought a real one!!! That really is above and beyond…..because, apart from anything else, you’ll never get that on a shelf.

Well yeah, but no. Not really. I asked for the kit because I've always wanted a real one. Then a real one came along. Just thought it would be an amusing post. I'm A bit confused now too though yes, it will need a big shelf. I think. Feel tired now.....

I know of people that have. One has a duce and a half and a real WWII Willis. Another has a Ferret scout car !
As for the 1 and 1/2 If under 3500kg total, I'd gave one.

Yeah, a cckw 352 would be the ultimate but they really are a different animal and a lot harder to use. As for the weight, 4 tons may be ? Still ok to drive on a cat licence as long as it's empty I am given to understand . Or if that's not the case they'll have to catch me first. Actually that wouldn't be too hard.

Short wheelbase was 7K & a bit, considered 2.5 ton capy off road 5 on. Almost exclusively used as arty. (75 & 105mm) prime mover. Had extended hubs & two spares for additional traction in mud/snow like Corbits & Mack NOs.

Talking of John Surtees , always been a hero of mine , as we all know, the only man to win 500cc World Motorcycle Championship ( 4 times) and Formula One World Championship for Ferrari ! - I bought this BMW 507 so that I could hopefully reproduce his 1957 model given to him by Count Augusta for winning MV's first World Title. He kept the car until he sadly died in 2017 when it was sold at auction for £4 million .Click image for larger version

What were the prices like? I've seen the TV shows, and there only seemed to be two types of bidders - collectors & dealers.........................

It’s a Matchbox re-issue of an AMT kit, it’s in the 1980 Matchbox catalog that was one of my main items of reading material in the early 1980s
