I went for a walk through the village this afternoon, and happened across a small antiques/collectors fair in the main street that I didn’t even know would be there. On the very first stall was this:

€2 and it was mine, still in its original shrink-wrap, by the looks of it
They also had an Airfix figure set, but Airfix holds just about no nostalgia for me so I let them keep it to sell to someone who does have good memories of the brandComment

In our local SENSE Charity shop this morning (SENSE is the charity supporting those who are deaf and blind - I can't begin to imagine that). DVD from 2018, WW1 Centenary. What intrigued me was that it was produced by Peter Jackson - Lord of the Rings, Wingnut Wings etc. Only £1.

Matchbox were the new kids on the block to me, I had the Airfix little lads. They came with folding kayaks so you could play cockshell heroes…Comment

Went and picked up a rather large parcel from the post office this morning from japan, been promising myself a big floaty thing for ages so even after paying vat and fees ive saved about 80 quid :smiling3: that will cover some brass bits. Cant wait to get started on one of them but patience will be needed as the p51 gb is almost apon us.Comment

Same, and in fact I almost certainly still have my “original” ones at the back of a drawer somewhere. To make it even more nostalgic, a while after posting the photo above, I realised that I bought this set directly opposite where the shop was that sold me the set I had in the 80s …
You and me bothI also had the 1:32 scale ones, but for some reason I seem to have thrown those out so long ago that I don’t even remember doing it (but I must have, as I couldn’t find them anymore years ago, when I went and looked for them
).
That shop I mentioned didn’t have any Airfix at all, as far as I recall, so it was Matchbox figures almost all the way for my brother and me. The only Airfix set I ever had was the RAF ground personnel, with the figures carrying a rocket.Comment

Today ..... one was naughty...
A few of us went to Military Odyssey @ Detling.. re-enactors heaven..... from Philistines to Gulf War.... a buy up and good chat, i as usual did not get many pics at all, other than a Bedford QLR Wireless truck....anyhoo...... Said Hi to Kit Krazy stall, did the Model club bit re next years show lol had a browse, Airfix Katy 35th ambulance £30, good £, i declined as i know there will be a plethora of Airfix/Gecko builds this autumn.
What i got then....
Absolute GT racing porn i tell you!!!!! Love this.
Got this @ a price i was prepared to pay...... i got both for £62.50!!!!!!!!
Then i fed my other 'jones' both repro, best i could find tbh, Peas Pattern 44 tankers trousers and Feldmetz...... £55 for both, i also bought 20 pkts of x6 gel type fuel elements for outdoorsy stuff
I do not re-enact, if i did I'd do either 30AU, my fathers unit or 1st Polish Armd Div 44-45, got these for colour matching, and to disappear into the trees this autumn.

It's a good read Andrew but i would take a bag (not a pinch) of salt with the 'facts' in the book. A brave man indeed. But can stretch the truth a little for his own benefit.Comment
