TIL Makes sense that they would list it that way, then.

      Another Ebay auction win.
One of the problems with these 1/700 Japanese destroyers is separate boxings of every ship in that particular class - the box & instructions are different, the contents are the same. You have to check Scalemates etc. to make certain you're not buying plastic you already have - and yes, it has happened to me!

I recall reading somewhere once, long ago, that the big Japanese model manufacturers got together and decided to release the entire Japanese fleet from the Second World War in 1:700, and divided up amongst themselves who would release which ships.

An Evri delivery ( is it just me, or has their service become better after the name change from Hermes? )

I've been bidding unsuccesfully on these for a couple of years on Ebay, but this one came up - the box is battered, but it's at least 40 years old - parts & decals complete - there's a price tag of £1.50 on the back - I got it for £8.05 delivered - another scratched off the wish list! Result! :thumb2::smiling:

So not very exciting but heard good things about this range in terms of performance..... Laquer based paints are out and these seem to be the best water based ones....

If I get in ok with this, might order some more in the future.

I think you'll like them. I have been using them for a while now and while they are perhaps not up to Lacquer metallics they are very good. Use a gloss black undercoat if you want the most shiny finish.

I use them and do not have any real negative comments, except when masking you will get some residue duts stuck to the masking tape. But do not leave the tape on for very long as it will mark the surface, you can rub some of the sticky off between your fingers before applying.

Vallejo also do an alcohol based set of metals, but they dry very fast.

I’ve got a normal dropper bottle of their aluminium airbrush paint, and though I’ve only used it once or twice, I was very happy with the finish. It did kind of lift off in a few places where I pulled masking tape off, though, so I’d advise to be careful with that.
