    New 1:24 Airfix Spitfire mk.IXc!!!!!

Just seen this on Facebook. Awesome news - a big scale mkIx spitfire!!! Detail looks incredible. Only just seen this so no further details.
I know not everyone builds this scale but for me this is exciting news. Maybe they’ll retool the mk I soon too. Happy days

I saw that too. It does look to be well detailed.
Too big for me but will must likely look pretty good if their other new tool 1/24 is anything to go by.

Looks superb but knocking on £100 , gulp !
Good news for people who dont mind bashing a kit into shape ( me ) cause the old tool ones might start dropping in price a bit now :smiling5:

            Hi Tony
It’s weird but I’ve been trying to find the classic 1/24 mk1 for a while. I built this kit with my grandad when I was about 10 (I think) and it brings back fond memories. That ancient kit is now commanding prices of around £100 and seems a little thin on the ground.

Perhaps, with the advent of this new mkIx they’ll cast their eye over the classic old girl which, let’s face it, could stand an update. That’s not to say that a stunner can’t be built from the old kit, I’ve seen plenty done.

Regardless, it’s nice to see Airfix continuing to look forward and long may they do so
            Cheers
            Paul

Wonder what the rest of the 22 lineup will have to offer.

I’m in. It will look terrific next to the 1/24 Tiffy.

Ive seen a few on ebay recently for 30/40 quid paul , the one I would be interested in is the mkVb boxing with the mid stone / dark earth / azure blue desert scheme but theyre few and far between , as i understand it this boxing had a few extra optional bits too .

                      Hi Tony
Just looked on eBay and there’s loads. They weren’t there last week. Just shows what difference one announcement can make!!!

                              I’ve ordered mine.
I have no reason to believe that this kit won’t be every bit as good as the 1/24 Typhoon and that kit is excellent. An aftermarket harness and a set of paint masks (much better than decals at this scale) and i think the finished model will be a stunner.
                              Roll on summer!
                              Cheers
