..... and I thought Tamiya were expensive!

One of my nephews is a BIG Star Wars fan and showed me this:

    LEGO 10179 - ULTIMATE COLLECTOR'S MILLENNIUM FALCON: Amazon.co.uk: Toys & Games

If he's dropping hints for his birthday/Christmas I'm afraid he's gonna be out of luck!

That is a staggering price. It beggars belief what people will pay for discontinued or hard to find items. Our very own Ron recently, very kindly, pointed me at Martin Pegg's "Hs129-Panzerjager" book on ebay. It's a great book and one I'd like to own. The trouble is I bet it goes for between £150-£200. It's just a blo*dy book for heaven's sake! I don't need it that badly.

Friend, colleague and P-47 nut Nige (Lampie) bought a box full of 'old' reference books for a few quid at a car boot sale. Included in the box was Roger Freeman's 8th Air Force history, another one I've seen go for daft money. It goes to show that there are bargains out there.

    Cheers

That is bloody Daft! The thing that is even more daft is that some chump will actually pay the price, just to say that they have one!

Its the same with all things though. If X has something Y wants/needs, then Y will pay whatever X demands. Sometimes you just cant say no. A new exhaust for the car for example. But for a toy!

Sorry if I am upsetting the people that want one but the ONLY reason they fetch the prices they do is due to people actually paying.

                  Steve, here's a thought....

Did you hear on the radio, an East European woman has been given full 'Self Employed' status by the courts of our land, because she stated selling 'The Big Issue' was a full time job (She already gets £25.000 in benefits!)

I wonder if she will worry about getting her tax returns in on time, having public liability insurance, paying her 'Stamp' and her accountant, ect, ect?......I think not.

This country is going to hell in a handcart.....

Probably not! I've done all that, totally legit for thirty years, and get stuffed for a hundred quid because it took three days for our glorious postage system to deliver my return. I,or rather my accountant, had foolishly only allowed two

Oh well, gripe over, but I could have bought a few nice models with that. Next one out of the stash for sure.

                    Cheers

Deduct it from your Accountants fee. T'was him that posted them late and you are paying him to ensure that your taxes are in order and paid in time....

Don't try buying LEGO in Denmark, thinking it will be cheaper here. Denmark has the worlds highest prises for the stuff! :-(

I ceased trading and sort of retired in 2009, got a letter a few days ago stating i needed to get my return (that i never received) in or suffer a late fine ... on phoning to remind them and to say "whats the crack here then" they tell me that their records show i'm owing them £716 and a few pence ..... my accountant says all's clear with my accounts in his books... got to wait for a letter from them showing where this bill originated.... annoying to say the least.

They don't send them anymore. You can still download and print a paper return but HMRC are trying to get us all to file online.
