Can someone please help with some custom decals?

Hi everyone, I am new to this forum so firstly I would like to introduce myself. I am Patrick Murray from Christchurch, New Zealand. I'm 26 and I build and fly large scale RC aerobatics model aircraft.

I have recently completed a 100" wingspan Extra 300sx and painted it up in the Red Bull scheme, similar to Kirby Chambliss' Edge 540 he flies in the Red Bull Air Race. I have decided to make a stick plane (which we use to practise the aerobatics sequences on the ground) and paint it up in the same colour scheme. I do however have a problem with creating the decals... I did all the vinyl graphics on my 100" model, but my 1/48 scale stick plane will much more difficult to reproduce at that scale.

Does anyone have the ability to print a sheet of water slide decals for me and post them to New Zealand? I have all the artwork drawn up in Corel Draw so there is no problem there, some of the lettering has a white outline so it will need to be printed onto clear paper (as I do not want to have to cut around each and every letter by hand)

I've attached a pic of my completed flying model and also a pic of my stick plane (yet to be painted)

If someone is willing to help a kiwi I would really appreciate it, I'll happily pay for materials and shipping costs. I don't want to have to go out and buy special printing equipment just for a one off model.

Anyone able to help me out on this one?

    Thanks in advance,

    Patrick

I know someone who has access to a vinyl cutter with an inbuilt printhead - that would be able to do the larger graphics. It could also cut out the masking films for when you spray the yellow flame graphics.

If you send me the Corel Draw file (alan2525 at yahoo.com) I can certainly take a look at it.

Nice Model by the way and a great looking paint scheme too!

Thanks Alan, I have sent you the files.

I think the size of the graphics will be too small to cut on a vinyl plotter (maybe the red bul lettering will be ok but not the rest) I think the best way to go would be waterslide decals.

If anyone has the ability to print waterslide decals I'd love to hear from you.

        Thanks

        Patrick

Yes I believe you can get decal paper that will print in a normal printer, however I believe you need a special printer if you want to print white onto a clear paper. I read somewhere on the internet that if you have an Apls MD series printer thay use dry nk cartridges that print directly onto the waterslide decal paper (and can print white) This is what I really need to get the white outline on my graphics - and they should probably have a base white layer before printing the red otherwise the blue paint on the model plane will show through.

            Thanks for your suggestions

In the US, Testors decal paper is available in clear and white. Print your image, seal with clear sealer. That's it. Paper is also available from Squadron and MicroMark. Don't know about finding or ordering outside of US. Try Googleing for decal paper. HP and Canon ink jets work fine.

The problem was that some of the decals have a white edge, they couldn't be printed onto white decal paper as they would have to be cut out by hand to get the outline, if clear decal paper was used a printer would need to be used that could print an opaque white ink.
