I know it doesn't look much at the moment but in there is a rose, hydrangea, hebe and self seeded fox gloves I didn't get much choice as these were dug up when the heating people put a base in for the new air source heating without telling a single soul.Comment

I had a day's gardening project yesterday too. Removing a massive rambling rose from our back fence. It looked great when flowering but wasn't doing the fence any favours, so out it came. I've been picking thorns out of my hands ever since. :anguished:

 Nice one Peter.
Just had a few hours in the garden today finishing the clear up of a rather large fir tree that was pushed over in the storm the other day. Lucky for me I managed to fell it the right way so nothing got squashed.
Two trailer loads of Ivy driven to the dump and about a trailer load of fir branches to put through the chopper and dress the Rhododendrons with.
As for the trunk. Mrs. M has plans for a garden bench...

Peter, dont forget to cut the rose back when there is no more chance for frost otherwise it will be leggy and open and weak.Comment

Ian, it's not coming back! It's either getting dug out, or poisoned, I'm not going through that again. It had branches 10 - 12 feet long (sorry, 3 to 4 metres!) and thicker than my thumb. Still need to take a chainsaw to the stump.
