I’d never be able to do it, but the scene from “The Train” where Papa Bull takes the art train through the allied air raid come to mind….
Big movie to model.

Also love the idea of Major Pluskat looking out of the bunker at the start of “The Longest Day”..
Pluskat…. ”you know those ships the allies don’t have, well they’ve got them”………
German Commander……”where are they headed Pluskat?”……..
Pluskat…shouting……”STRAIGHT AT ME”…..Comment

If only my imagination is the limit, then U96 being depth-charged, with the attacker on the surface above it — in 1:72 scale :smiling3:
More realistically, probably Oddball’s Sherman from Kelly’s Heroes,¹ a Tiger from Battle of the Bulge² or one of those movie prop tanks that has been extensively modified from some real tank, like the M1 Abrams in Courage Under Fire³ or the Panther from A Bridge too Far.⁴
¹ Yugoslavian M4 tanks with some modifications for the movies.
² Actually Spanish M47 Pattons, and which I have built a model of, ages ago, but it wasn’t very good largely due to being built from memory and me being a poorer painter at the time than I am now.
³ A Chieftain, IIRC, with extensive stuff added to resemble an M1.
⁴ A Leopard 1-V with side skirts and other stuff tacked on.Comment

Bullitt Car Chase Ending ! - The Dodge Charger blowing up in the petrol station, with Steve McQueen's Mustang sliding to a halt in the gravel nearbyComment

Ray Hanna flying the Spitfire under the Bridge in "piece of cake" would be a good one. Especially for someone that is really ace at doing diorama with water and bridges and all that...
Hmm who could that be...?Comment

A subtly lit box diorama depicting one of the tense moments in the (sail, fin etc) conning tower from 'Das Boot' - 1/35 scale, scratchbuilt interior! Beyond me I'm afraid :disappointed2:

There is a mock up picture around, but it’s actually not true. Apparently it was a P40 that did the deed, and clipped one of its wings avoiding a lorry coming the other way….
All of Derek Robinson’s books (what the TV series was based on) are worth reading, by the way…..Comment

Excellent TV series, but the book is even better. If you haven’t read it, get a copy. You won’t be disappointed.Comment

bought me the Das Werk Pak 40 (of which I'll post an in-box review very soon) - I have ordered some flowers though, so who knows?!

Why not the 20th Maine on Little Round Top from "Gettysburg" or the Storch (well, not really a Storch but it was meant to be a Storch) landing while the island garrison is playing football on the landing strip in "Mediterraneo" link?
I'm aiming high, considering my skills in figure painting, but dreams and desires are for free (yet).Comment

Well if we’re going that way Andy, what about the 54th Massachusetts assaulting Fort Wagner at the end of Glory…..still my favourite ACW film by miles.Comment

When the Airborne Forces Museum was located at Browning barracks in Aldershot I was always fascinated by a 1/72 diorama of the northern end of the bridge at Arnhem during the attack by an SS unit. It featured a section of the bridge and ramp with the towns buildings around it.
It must have been about 8 feet square.
I have no idea what happened to it , or many of the other exhibits, when the museum closed. On the bench: Airfix 1/48 Sea King HC4, Revell 1/24 Trabant.
Coming soon: Airfix 1/72 Phantom FGR2.
Just finished: Airfix 1/48 Stuka & Airfix 1/72 Sea King HC4.Comment
