    Harbinger of Spring...................

Just had the first visit of the year by the Ice-Cream Van ( Mr Whippy ) - he uses our car park as a temporary pitch! I'm not sure of the reason for his chimes being " The good, the bad & the ugly" - maybe he wants to put a bit more thought into that!

Haven’t heard one of those in years…….last time I heard one I think it was using the “magic roundabout “ theme tune……

                Did you know that

Ice cream vans can play their chimes for a maximum of 12 seconds and only when they're stationary, according to a government code of practice

Is that why they play the pied piper tunes really fast and so distorted as to be out of tune?

Believe it or not there’s one that drives all the way out here to the country and his van is rusted and dirty I wouldn’t dare buy off that thing. His chime is “The more we get together together the more we get together the Happier we’ll be” I can’t stand it. Also he has a bad exhaust leak and the van is loud. Hooray for Summer.

The nearest we have to an Ice cream van in DK is a van that has a freezer box and a door at the back. Drives around ringing a bell like a demented fire engine. I think they employ ex bus drivers. They come, ringing the bell. stop ring the bell and if you are not out by the van in ten seconds his off again.
NO SOFT ICE! just lollies and the like. Oh and Ice cream cakes....
