    Finally good news!!

Just before Julie had the terrible diagnosis posty delivered a brown envelope. Now for those with a dirty mind it was not.

StuG monthy, July centre page spread, Ausf E in the buff nor was it

'Cor look at the size of them, is that 16 inch' July's battleship fanciers monthy.

It was from the tax man saying I owed them £290. In a state of shock/anger, I contacted the excellent payroll officer who kindly sorted out my pension and tax, he just said leave it with me, then Julie had the diagnosis so I forgot about it.

Then a letter arrived today in another brown envelope saying in short my taxes had been calculated incorrectly for a while and they owed me £890!! Phoned my mate who had spotted errors and kindly dealt with the Tax man for me. What a guy, I owe him a large breakfast, he likes a breakfast.

So treated myself to a IJN battleship coming from Japan and the rest will pay for my shed and go towards the modelling room.

At last something to cheer me up!

That all? I normally get one most years..... But then my work situation with various benefits in kind makes it a bit complicated....

Mostly it's below about £150 but one year I did get something like £700, which I spent on a nice new and lightweight bike because I was cycling to work most days

That's excellent news mate, but I must admit the centre page Ausf E would have been tempting as well

Funny, when I was in the military, I used to get a real sweet tax refund every year as you earned below the normal average. The other military benefits made up the difference though, so you could live good. Between $4000 and $6500 refund for the time I was married with 1 and then 2 kids.....Those were the days...........

                      Prost

I am very lucky to know Paul, who as a payroll expert, knows tax inside out, me not a clue.

The letter was just Martian to me? My tax code was wrong along with allowances not taken into consideration.

Got to arrange to meet him to force fed him a big breakfast!!
