My heartfelt condolences to all UK and Commonwealth people here in the forum.
The affection to your Queen you are showing here is touching.
Queen Elizabeth II will be missed outside UK too; She was a deeply respected monarch and an inspiring person for many women and men.
A small, almost personal (at that time I wasn't existing yet) family story: She was visiting my hometown in 1961, the same day my parents got married and that was the reason why the luxury car they hired for their wedding was available only to the bride for her arrival to the church; at the end of the ceremony they had to leave on a "normal" car as the "limo" was requested for the Queen's visit (for one of the many VIPs attending the event, not for Her, of course).
As has been said, a sad occasion and the end of an era. As one of those born after she became Queen she has been a constant throughout my life and that presence will be missed.
Watching the speeches yesterday in the House of Commons, Boris made his best ever speech in which he described Her Majesty as ‘Elizabeth the Great’. I really hope that catches on as a lasting tribute to her life of duty.
