    English Electric Lightning P1

Does anybody know of, or ever seen a model of the prototype 'English Electric Lightning P.1 ?, maybe even a resin replacement set for the airfix lightning...?

I once saw an image of one used in a Dan Dare storyline back when I was a kid, and always wanted to build the same aircraft ..

(The image I saw was during a story about the original Dan Dare, and it told how he became a test pilot after the second world war, he ended up testing the p.1. which was being carried atop the fuselage of a modified lancaster....and during the test flight he stumbled across two UFO's...later revealed to be two Treen scout ships surveying earth for an upcoming invasion, which collided, causing him to jump forward in time to the future....hence the title 'Dan Dare pilot of the future'..)

    Try this - https://www.scalemates.com/kits/whir...p1-p1a--972046

Unfortunately, Whirlybird closed recently so you’ll be looking at the secondary market for this kit.
Alternatively, try the aviation megastore near Schipol Airport, I was in their store last week and they stock Whirlybird kits so you may get lucky. They do mail order.

    Good luck b

Hi Tim, it was in the re-released 1982 Eagle comic, a feature/ story called 'the Dare Report', it was mainly about the 'new' Daniel 'Dan' Dare, his great great great grandson, the image of the P1 was in a couple of panels telling the reader about what happened to the original Dan Dare....
