Enforced hospital stay

This all started on Tuesday all of a sudden I started feeling breathless as I am a full time carer I just thought it was from all the wheel chair pushing over the next couple of days I seem to get worse so I made an appointment with the doctor and within the hour I was on my way to the hospital I had all the test and blood taken it wasn't until I had the ct scan that they found blood clots on my lungs so I spent the night in resus just in case I survived the night now I am on blood thinners for the rest of my life.
So I have the few months taking it easy but modeling has gone out of window for a while.
But here's a couple of pics of what I am working on.
It's 1/400 academy titanic I had decided light it up using the unused trumpeter titanic lighting kit the portholes were already drilled so it was a time saver.

that's bad news - at least you are under treatment. Don't be tempted to do anything strenuous ( drink halves, not pints ), and follow the doc's advice! Take care

i know oh so well how easy that is to say......personally im usually climbing the walls with boredom and cant wait to be doing something lol

I don't drink or smoke I gave up 20 years ago what they said it was involuntary blood clots it was nothing to do with my health or life style there is a 25% chance of them coming back but they won't be giving that chance.

R&R is the order of the day. Take it easy and relax. I would have thought that a bit of modelling was just the ticket. Just remember to put a mask on when painting.

Welcome to the embolism club Peter, I know EXACTLY how you feel. I had an embolism diagnosed two weeks ago. It was a pulmonary bridge embolism, which is a large clot blocking both lung arteries. Didn’t feel too bad, as long as I didn’t do anything…..just a bit dizzy when I stood up, and a bit breathless if I walked or climbed stairs…..then the leg pain started so I got it checked. Must have had it for a week before I got it diagnosed, which scared the bejesus out of me when I found out what it was. Never got kept in, ostensibly because my wife is a qualified nurse and I’m immunocompromised. I got follow up phone calls every day for a week. On 30mg of thinners for three weeks, then 20mg for six months followed by a review…..

Do what they tell you Take your pills as described, and you’ll be fine…….It’s not so scary at the time because you don’t know what is going on, but after the event it can get quite frightening in retrospect. This is mostly because you think about what might have happened. Don’t let it get on top of you. If you are thinking about what might have happened, Don’t. It didn’t and you are now over the worst and getting treatment.

You will find you improve physically quite rapidly now you are on anticoagulants. Personally I feel a great deal better now the thinners have started working. From not being able to walk up the garden two weeks ago, I walked a mile yesterday. Very slowly, with a few breaks, yes, but I didn’t get out of breath. I’m also much brighter mentally and have an interest in things around me again. Stick with it and you’ll get better quicker than you think. Watch out for that modelling knife though, you will bleed a lot more quickly now you are on the thinners…. :thumb2:
