Might have been a hornet Chris. We get them in the house now and again. I usually try and isolate it in one room and then shoo it out of the window.

I do get wasps trying to hibernate in my wood pile so I've taken to giving the logs a good bang together before putting them in the basket to bring indoors...... only had one wake up after inadvertently bringing him indoors....

We've been told there might be some on the mountain tops but nothing in the garden yet. I'm at about 620ft in altitude but it is rather exposed here.

Wasn't the temperature but the rain this morning, drive to site felt like a full days work on it's own, and the motorway being closed due to a fatality didn't help. (Wreckage still the at 4pm.)

Well, I've bought a 15 TOG Duvet. and a new woolly - the heating doesn't go on until we have two successive days of frost.................
( It helps that my flat is on the middle floor of a 3 storey block, so I have heat above & below & fancy double glazing helps to keep that meter reading as low as possible )

We had the rain last week on Thurs/Fri. Some local flooding and my pigs also broke out the flippers and were swimming around the farm

We have friend coming to stay from tomorrow, and she's from Aus, so now the heating is on half way on the storage heaters . Glad we have panels on the roof as the income from those during the summer does help this time of the year. By next week Christine promises it can go off again in half of the house !
Cave is so well insulated after the refit that it's stays quite warm just from an oil heater on frost free . I shall be moving into there from tomorrow. :smiling3:

Heating has been on since late September. Runs from 0700 to 0900 and then from 1800 to 2200. Now retimed in the afternoon to 1600 to 2200 and will add in a spell at 1200 to 1400 when it gets really cold. Need the heat with the RA, unfortunately, because I get stiff very quickly in cold conditions. Won’t go off now until April. Unused rooms don’t get heated though, unless we have guests, and the wireless thermostat gets kept in whichever room I’m spending the most time so it is most effective. Best saving I’ve made is splitting the hot water off and timing it different to the heating :thumb2:
