    1921 Census

I've recently cancelled my subscription to Find My Past, having (I thought) downloaded all the 1921 census records I needed, but I've just realised that my download for my grandfather is just the cover sheet without the actual census page. Stupid of me, should have checked.
Can anyone download a 1921 census for me? Happy to pay the FMP fee.

Have a look and see if ''ancestry dot com'' are doing a free weekend/week, they often do.

I think that as long as you have an account even if you don't have a subscription which is my current situation you can just pay per view. See belowClick image for larger version

Unfortunately Ancestry don't have the 1921 census. It's just Find My Past for now

Indeed you can, many thanks Mike! It was actually £2.50. Now downloaded the correct file. Found the name of his post-WW1 employer, in Leominster.

Thanks Gary, I'm an Ancestry subscriber but as Mike wrote they don't have the 1921 census yet.

Apols , I haven't used ancestry for a while, they were usually the first with the census data.

I think they were Gary, up to and including the 1901 census, but FMP were first with the 1911 census and the 1939 Register, and now with the 1921. I find Ancestry much better and easier to use, so I'm hoping they'll transcribe the 1921 census soon.

According to this article, FMP have an exclusive deal with the National archives until 2025 so won't be able to make a deal with Ancestry and other suppliers until then.

Everything you need to know about the England and Wales 1921 census including how to access it and how to find people on it

I''m lucky that I can get to the National Archives quite easily so I've been able to get loads of the 1921 censuses for free.

That's a shame, I thought the exclusivity was only until the end of next year.
I spent a lot of time at The National Archives before I retired - I used to have a lot of meetings at BSI in Chiswick, so it was easy enough to pop down to Kew afterwards. Found some fascinating records there.
