    Its inventory day

    Howdy guys and gals,

I was laying here on the bed, trying to determine what i wanted to build today...a grumman Hellcat....a japanese Isshikirikko Type 11 bomber.....a Mig 21? Well I couldnt make up my mind and found myself looking at the models i could readily see without having to move anything in the stacks of models. I then found myself in a spreadsheet on my laptop making a list of the models i could see without moving any. Finally that got old and even though I didnt list all of the ones i can see, let alone the ones i cant see behind the ones i have listed or the kits in the other rooms of the house, here is what I got written down beofre i grew weary of it lol. Like i said, this is about 1/3 of the models i have here at the hobbyshop.....oops i mean house lol, i guess i could open a hobby shop lol. There are no "typos" meaning no 'double entries, if you see it listed more than once, then there is more than one.

I reckon i need to get busy building huh? Have a good day all, i will try to finish listing all the kits before i go back to work.

You will need to live to a ripe old age Greg to finish that little lot alone ! most of us have more kits than we can truly handle, but the fun is in saearching them out and adding to the cherished stash.

Despite clearing out hundreds of kits a few years back ( some that I now regret ) the stash is building up again,it is nice to just go and take a kit from the shelves and pick something to build.

      Howdy Barry,

Yeah, its nice to be able to grab and build, but the problem I seem to find myself faced with more often than not is "Which one to build".

And i find myself faced with another problem, "If i think all these neatly stacked boxes take up alot of room, just imagine what kind of room i will need for displaying all of them" lol.

I have about the same amount built as what appears on the above list and space is becoming a premium.

And i am still buying kits and kit lots from ebay weekly. I recently purchased 2 Heller patriot missile batteries, 2 lidar models, 2 antenna mast and 1 controll vehicle (the entire heller Patriot missile battery set) in 1:48th scale for only $30 that was 7 kits for $30, wherein one kit alone would normally cost me approx.$35 at my favorite hobby shop. I have been selling the occassional model kit online, but havent gotten into it heavily yet, thats part of the reason for the inventory. Anyway, I am through with the list for this evening i think, I want to build something lol.

      have a good day,

      Greg

Well Greg at the speed you normally build a model that little lot should last you somewhere in the region of a couple of weeks!!

I think you need a few more, you're in danger of running out!

If you run out of storage and wanted to free up space for your latest display, I'm sure fellow members of the scale-models forum would be happy to provide a short or long term home to any models from your private collection!

                  Greg,

Is the problem that you weren't sure which aircraft to build next, or rather the fact that you couldn't think of any aircraft left to build models of?

I think it's faster listing the aircraft you haven't done than making an inventory of the ones you have!

And the real problem will be what happens when there aren't any more aircraft to build?

                  Cars next, Boats?

Apologies for mentioning the part about fellow members offering homes to models in your collection - you'll probably get inundated with PM's! and requests now! This thread makes me smile!

                    Howdy Alan,

The problem is deciding what model to build...........again usually.

That list of kits is unbuilt kits i have here at the house, not the ones i have assembled....although alot of the subjects i have built in years past.

And what happens when i run out of aircraft? lol Well, i am prepared for that, I have alot of "Armor" models too, and i also build model rockets....and then i have about 300+ cardmodels on three different computers and about that many more on disks here at the house that i need to build.

I could probably build some sort of model every day for the rest of my life and have to ask the Grim Reaper to wait out in the truck while I finish up lol.

And as for the "offering homes" suggestion, no need for apologies, my biggest fear is overcharging my friends here for models they can get elsewhere at a lower price. Alot of the models i have purchased at the hobby shop(s) were at "retail" price (read "way over priced"). And taking a loss doesnt really bother too much, but some models i have bought now sell for as little as "half price" of what I paid for them so those particular models that I have that are "upside down" would not be "adventageous" for me to sell at todays prices. And charging a friend or forum member the price I Paid for them would be ridiculous and most likely offensive to most ppl here.

Those particular models are best left to sell on ebay to people I dont know and let "supply and demand" pricing take its course in auctions with reserves set.

And then of course, there are those models I wouldnt want to part with anyway. I am sure all of us feel like one day we will get around to all of our "inventory" and get them all built. I know thats a pipe dream, but, I am kinda like that myself.

However, due to the response i have gotten already, I will be trying to come up with a list of the ones want to get rid of for certain, and prices for each of them and list them here on the forum. Then me and any interested party could "haggle" over them.

anyway, I need to get off here, my neck has been bothering me alot today and its almost 10:00 pm here so i am probably gonna go to bed soon (I know, 10:00 pm on a saturday night? lol, what can I say, I am a bachelor and I am gettin old lol).

                    Have a good day,

                    Greg
