    Scale fuel drums

    Hi all

So a chum of mine asked if I could make him some 1/16th scale fuel drums, (as in the big 55 gallon jobbies) to go on his RC tank static display, but I am unsure of the size of them. If anyone has a 1/16th tank or oil drums if you could supply the measurements that would be great.

He has spent ages making his 1/16th Sherman RC tank as life like as he can, but when not being used he wants it to sit on a display diorama in his hall. His plan is a sort of ammo and fuel storage area. He had thought of buying some scale drums, but then decided he wanted a stack of them and to buy would cost loads so asked me if I could make him some.

Any measurements of info on where to gather them would be ace.

Just as an idea I have some 1/35th scale 55 gal oil drums and they measure up as 16mm diameter by 25mm high.

So if you make yours 50mm high by 32mm diameter they shouldn't be too far out. The diameter does not include the ribs which are a couple of mm on top of that.

If you go by those dimensions they give you a scaled up capacity of 214 litres, which is pretty close to the 210 litre equivilent of 55 gallons.
