Re boatman new filum, (that's Geordie for film), I was privileged to have been able to read a member of HMS Exeters encounter with the German pocket battleship. He was an electrician responsible or power supply to one of Exeters guns. He went on to tell how the bulkheads ballooned out to press him against the power switchboard then popped back into place. When he and his comrade tried to exit their compartment they found the deck above was on fire with burning oil. They had to remain below deck in scorching heat in the middle of the battle. He survived but I found the read compelling. After 25 years in the RN myself I have never experienced anything even close to that. Brave men all of them, ours and the Germans. Not just fighting the enemy but also the sea!!Comment

This just landed on my doorstep. Once again evilbay has struck me down......absolutely insane offer on these, a long sought Phanomen Granit 1500 ambulance and a Bussing 4500 with a 3 ton Bielstein crane the rest is just fodder for modeling artillery and anti tank stuff also some 1-350 ship railing to make roof racks for busses ambulances etc.Comment

Hi all
I have just realised that I forgot to post this up with my other latest acquisitions......all the talk of P-39 as an example of a Lend-Lease for the Soviet Wingy GB later this year got me thinking....
...and so after a stalking a number on Fleabay, i found this.
Whilst this is one of their earlier offerings, it still gets good reviews. Picked it up for £24 but just before I won it, I had discovered you can redeem Nectar reward points on eBay purchases....even more surprisingly I discovered I had £5 worth and so this only cost me £19.
The only problem is which of the three qualifying aircraft I have in the stash will I build for the GB!?!?

And there’s a behind-the-scenes book about the miniseries/movie (watch the miniseries, BTW, it’s better than the movie) that is also rather good. Interesting models in it too

TBH, I never knew there was a film!! Guess I'll have to keep my peepers open for that. I've only ever watched the mini-series, (once or thrice). The follow up mini-series wasn't up to much I thought.Comment

The movie is the same as the miniseries, but a shorter cut to fit into two and a half hours rather than five hours as the series does.Comment
