The Fearless is the only boat build I have ever done. I built it when I was a kid.

I sold an early 1970s kit of fearless on EBay in first lockdown…..I’d had it since I was a kid but never built it….went for a fair bit. Funny thing is, the purchaser lived about seven miles away in Castle Cary.

I’ve always wanted to do a model of Intrepid, she’s the ship my dad cross decked onto before going ashore with the rest of 3 Para on East Falkland.
Although Fearless’ sister ship I understand there were some differences I haven’t looked into in detail - ships aren’t really my thing normally.
On the bench: Airfix 1/48 Sea King HC4, Revell 1/24 Trabant.
Coming soon: Airfix 1/72 Phantom FGR2.
Just finished: Airfix 1/48 Stuka & Airfix 1/72 Sea King HC4.

Only problem with it is that hardly any were ever actually in use The instructions do tell you how to backdate it to the M3A1 that was very common, though.

Andy, I think they were less than £23 each, which is a bargain!
I built all 3 many years ago but trying to find them again was like rocking horse poop, when one became available a kidney would have to be sold to be able to afford it! Then Tamiya re-released them and everyone is happy... unless you didn't get it on this drop?!

Thankfully I never went to sea on Intrepid, flat bottomed and no thank you!

IIRC, the main thing is removing the “ladders” from the sides, as well as a few other bits. Tamiya would have done far better to mould those ladders (actually stowage racks) separately anyway, this would both look better and allow easy backdating to an M3A1.
