What am I missing about this advert?

There's a TV advert at the moment from one of those companies that allow you to trace your family history.

This particular advert shows a man and woman sleeping together. The voice-over tells us that this is Wendy and her husband Alan has just found out that one of his forebears was in the Marines. It then tells us that the man in her bed is not her husband. The camera pans to the far corner of the bedroom. We are then told that the figure hiding in the laundry basket covered in military style facepaint is in fact her husband Alan.

So we have an unfaithful wife being spied on by her pervert husband while she sleeps with another man.

Just what message are we supposed to get about the company?

Seen it and not really considered the implications. Maybe it's just that these days we must be all inclusive and not discriminate against any group. That includes cheating wives, extra marital nookie and perverts who hide in laundry baskets. There are certainly some weird adverts at the moment.

Sometimes I am so glad that We do not have broadcast TV in the house. We just stream the things we want. Never miss the start of a film. No Adverts. need a P. Pause the film.

Sounds strange. I'll have to check it out. I do alot of family history research for myself and use some of these suppliers like ancestry and Find My Past. I'm just trying to work put what message they are trying to get across with this advert.

I have seen it a few times and thought it a bit weird too. Perhaps there will be a sequel advert when the three, courtesy of the genealogy site, discover that they are in fact siblings.

There's another advert that annoys me. A family, mum, dad, son and daughter go on holiday. Mum kicks off her shoe to go in the pool and the shoe hits some poor bloke in the face. No apology from mum. Little daughter drops her ice cream and big brother just laughs and makes a big show of enjoying his ice cream. If those are the type of people who go on holiday with that company I'll give them a miss!

What you're referring is really just pausing/rewinding live TV I think.

Streaming is where you go into an application like a Netflix, BBC iPlayer, ITVX, Amazon Prime (there are lots of them, some free and some subscription), choose a film or episode of a TV show from a huge catalgue of shows and play it from there.

It tends to run over the Internet.

If your smart TV has WiFi or is plugged into your Internet router, you can probably stream stuff from BBCiplayer and the other channel equivalents for free.
