I was watching a YouTube video about an Eagle build. I don’t know how far around the world this product went but how many remember Letraset? This firm produced dry rub lettering, numbers and symbols, I used to have quite a few sheets and found them really useful. During the video the guy mentioned how model makers in tv and film used them on their models and Space 1999 was no exception. Apparently they used the building design symbols on their models. These have been reproduced on the decals for the 1/72 and 1/48 scale models, so I dug out my decals and sure enough there they are.
A bit of modelling trivia

I still use my 'proffed' Letraset 'burnishing' tools (rounded nylon tip and a spoon shaped beastie) for decals and some gentle buffing on posh paint jobs- they're still excellent after all this time! As an aside, we were taught to use them on the Army's 'Methods of Instruction' course - plus Overhead Projector tools of course! Happy Days!
