    Blood pressure high...again

Well, at the docs last week, nurse took blood to check sugar levels for the diabetes, weight checked, lost 10 kilos since last October-a bit concerned as they thought it could be down to my COPD, another check later on. Finally, the blood pressure, 161 over 89, a retake and it was around the same. Home tested for a week and it was still around 153 over 70 and that was at 8am. I am on blood pressure meds but it looks like more will be needed.

Oh, the joy of adding another pill to the box :smiling:

I’m on those. Only one at the moment, but it’s backed up with blood thinners and statins…..I have bloods taken monthly as well…..at least the thinners make taking bloods easy, the trick is getting it to stop not great is it :sleeping2:

Good luck with getting it down, mine is winding up the staff at the local surgery, they keep saying mine is too high , but its the same as it was last year , so new tablets which haven't altered it at all.

147/97 is average and 3 different HBP pills.

can manage 181/123 on the odd occasion.

Hope you get it under control. I take a water pill prescribed by my doctor and I also eat lots of Beets and drink Beet juice. This and losing weight and a better life style really has helped.

This might sound strange but since my stroke last year i have lowered my BP not with the pills but with beetroot juice!!
i‘m not mad (honest) my sister bought me a book “how not to die” (Thats the title) and since i read some of it, (it a big read and no pictures) I‘v looked up the dr’s web page. NutritionFacts.org (it free) some of the facts are rather amazing.
have a look punch in you ailment and there will be a nutritional way to deal with it. It helped me loose weight and feel much better.

I know Si, I have now started to rattle when I walk, even got the woke police dancing the Macarana behind me. First it was the ones for the heart, then the one for the thyriod, then the fish capsule, then the antibiotics for the finger and now the pain killers for the back - anyone for a Samba cha cha cha.....

Simon, I'll be interested to hear a bit more about your beetroot juice - like how much you need to take and how palatable it is. Currently trying to keep the docs happy without recourse to more pills..

                Cheers, Nick.

Me too! My wife has suffered for years and I will suggest anything to her if it appears to work!! Although she says she does eat Beetroot!!!!
Oh and does drinking beetroot juice turn your urine red? Serious question. (I once had Borsch, (beetroot soup) and it did me!!!).

Ok its takes a bit of getting used to fresh beetroot juice is very earthy, bought beetroot juice is a lot sweeter daily i drink 1 glass or cup full of it. At lunchtime but after a short time you get used to the taste I should also point out it helps with movements!! ( i’m sure you know what i mean). And lastly after the first day or to it can catch you out if you check it looks like you have passed blood…

aphrodisiac not sure about that im 57 and still performing well!! (Not that i asked)

if you do look at the nutrional.org web site just type in blood pressure or beetroot juice the fasts are in the video’s
i personal started looking for something other than man made chemicals not convinced all the drugs they issue are for the best but thats just me + nobody ever saw a poor pharmaceutical company not sure they have my best interests at heart

Simon, you are passing on very poor information here.

From someone that spent almost my entire working life in the pharmaceutical world, I can tell you from personal experience that everything you get from that industry has been tested, checked, counter checked, and checked again before it is allowed out into the market place. Nothing they sell can be released to market unless it is approved by a qualified and very experienced individual who is legally responsible for the safety and efficacy of the product they have released. Everything they use as a manufacturing substrate is supplied from a known and trusted source, and is legally listed in the production license application. All operations carried out during manufacture are logged, and all production parameter data is recorded and kept for ten years past the shelf life of the product. Every anomaly that occurs during manufacture, no matter how trivial it may seem, is investigated and the potential impact on product safety assessed and recorded. Key ingredients must come from a regulatory approved source, and cannot be substituted with an alternative (even from another approved source) unless the alternative has been tested to the same rigorous standards and the change is agreed up front by the industry regulators.

In comparison, alternative therapies and diets use ideas and suppositions that are passed on by word of mouth, use untested ingredients, sometimes from extremely dubious sources, and have no basis in scientific methodology. They may be dressed up as pseudoscience for marketing purposes, and to “sell” the latest antivaxer diatribe, but they do not undergo peer review and are not subject to regulatory review. Personally I would not subject myself to such a regime unless I had checked with my GP that it would do no harm. I certainly wouldn’t expect it to do much good, unless it was more by luck than judgement.
