    FedEx UK version

On Thursday last week I was delayed getting home and missed a delivery from John. I’d been left a card so went on their site and arranged delivery for the following day. Unfortunately on Thursday night the snow came so no delivery. I went back onto the website and tried again but it wouldn’t let me and instead said to contact customer service. I decided to wait until after the weekend to sort it. I got home from shopping today to find another sorry we missed you (no notifications sent) so I tried again but same as before contact customer service. I got on to their automated service but it won’t let you speak to anyone without an account number which I don’t have, just a tracking number. After several more failed attempts, I thought it might give in and put me through I found live chat. I got connected and started a conversation, after two brief opening exchanges he hung up I tried a second time and this time got someone helpful who rebooked my delivery for tomorrow, gave me a ref number and promised to pass on my feedback. Ten minutes later a white lorry pulled up outside and out gets a fedex guy. He had seen there were now two cars on the drive and stopped He wasn’t very complimentary about the company as he had worked for another parcel firm who had been bought out. The local depot that it showed my parcel at doesn’t exist, it’s actually 3 miles away.

I've been pretty lucky with deliveries ths year - Evri seemed to have smartened up after the rebrand from Hermes, UPS & Royal Mail are OK. Yodel are so-so - their tracking is poor ( site saying my parcel is at their local hub, when it's in my hands! ) - only had one Amazon delivery so far this year - hardly a good darabase!

I’ve had very similar from FedEx a couple of times over the years Mick. I lost my temper on the phone once and asked to speak to someone from planet earth and not from planet Fedex……they rightly hung up. I didn’t blame them, but I had been going around in circles for ages being transferred from department to department. Like all such services they are great when they work, but can be a right hassle if something falls over.

That’s probably why they don’t like talking to people

If you ever have a delivery issue all you have to do is call or email me and I will sort it out, that is what I’m here for.

All couriers have their issues, we used to use DPD blue but their collections got unreliable and it won’t get any better with them as they are making all their drivers redundant and closing, everything is moving to DPD red, that’s probably why they couldn’t be bothered.

My issue wasn’t with you guys John. It’s a few years back and involved import duties and handling charges on something I had already paid for these up front….

From my experience working for a company who Used couriers to ship goods to customers, take John’s advice and call him. As the account holder he has options you don’t and as the “customer” of the courier company, depending on the courier involved, can apply a bit of pressure.

Thanks John but I thought it would be a simple fix though, how hard could it be to re schedule a delivery

Like John R I must live in an area of good deliveries. I do feel for those who have poor service though - very annoying and frustrating.

FedEx have always been a pain for me. I ship tools around the world and their delivery schedules can’t be relied on.
I once sent a plating tool kit to Milan only for a load cell to be delivered from Singapore. They were happy to pick up the load cell and send it to where it should have gone but my shipment was never heard of again. Meanwhile the technician waiting in Milan enjoyed three days on the lash before I could get him a replacement.
