Sorry Guys you are your worstest enemy. if you all perpetuate the myth that modelling is solely for the boys you are deserving in what you get.
I've battled for years to be accepted in the modelling world. No wonder we keep quiet.
I just wish sexism wouldn't exist in the modelling world but reading all your comments it saddens me to see it perpepuated:emo10:.Comment

1/A flying model Avro Lancaster and Wellington bomber produced by a Leicester housewife, she even made scale hangars in the garden to house them.
2/ The full sized Spitfire recently shown on television is being made by a woman.
3/ The brass Mosquito shown at the Model Engineering exhibition in London, the workmanship was superb, and why not ?
4/ The large model Titanic made from card was by a lady model builder.
I could go on and on but will not, there is no doubt in my mind that Pan Am girl could give us a healthy run for our money in modelling skills,so make the lady at home and listen to what she has to say,you may learn something from her, stay put Pan Am as I said before your presence is a breath of fresh air.Comment

I now wish i had called this thread "Partners that are'nt into modelling comments"
In fact if there is a kindly Mod looking in,,,,could please change the thread title to the above (as i cant seem to figure out how you do it!!! I may be drunk tho). Thus negating any unintended sexism.

Although I would get my arse kicked by both Pan am clipper girl and Aryanpink, this thread was titled "Wife comments" For those of us who have Wives, this thread is in NO way related to sexism but rather Wife comments. I in particular found this thread extremely supportive in that it validated some very real discussions between my wife and I concerning my new found love of this hobby, impacting both of our lives and the time it takes integrating into our marriage. I hope that this thread stays strong as my Wife and I read it almost daily.Comment

Hi Everyone, my name is Kerin and I'm Desert Rat's wife I too thought this was a supportive thread for us wifes but maybe I'm wrong Desert Rat Racer is a very good model builder in his own right although not up to the par of some of you men out there he tries and I support him for trying, we are in the middell of building a 1/12th scale rally car and he has me doing the lights for it, it should look real good when it's finished as I am trying to get it so that the lights can be switched from a remote position via fine micro wires but we'll have to see how these stand up to the heat of electricity running through them. Keep up all your good work and be supportive of each other in this great hobby. Russell has know idea I've done this until he reads it on line next. He is my shining:knight:Comment

Saw this old post and thought I'de add my misfortunate penniesworth.
My wife, thinking she was doing me a favour, recently bought me some paint for my "toy" models. She was pretty chuffed with herself, "as they were cheaper than the one's I buy and you get a lot more in them". Yes you guessed it - she got me some paint testers...!!
Well after I stupidly declined the offer, then the ensued heated discussion, they were actually used but it's looking like I'm painting the hallway this weekend...doh!
Well, we're both new to modelling eh?Comment

" I suppose a s**g is out of the question then?" sez I.
" ****************** ." sez she:beer2:

i can't complain really...my missus is getting into modelling, and has already racked up a couple of nice builds, she just loves the building part and normally asks me to put basecoats and cam patterns on for her.....(she's afraid she'll bodge up the model if she goes anywhere hear i with an airbrush).. but she does the weathering so it can't be all that bad..Comment
