    NON-UK model shops/webshops.

With permission from John I have been allowed to make this thread. I hope that it will be used in the intended way: If you have an actual or a web shop that you would recommend THAT IS NOT IN THE UK. Feel free to share it here in this thread.
I am sure that many of us that live in the EU or the American continent have a particular favorit they use a lot. Amazon and E-bay and the like, need no mention, I think we all know them.

The only condition John has laid down is other shops/webstores in the UK not be promoted and any posts doing so will be deleted. Also this is not a "complain here" thread. If you have nowt good to say, zip it!

One thing John did wonder about was that there are very few UK members to the forum that use the Scale Model Shop that is Owned by John, (Yes, the same John that owns the Forum)!
Even without the discount given to forum members on top of his already low prices (with price match if I recall).
So those in the UK: Always look at the Scale Model Shop first when you want to buy things.

    So simple 'guide lines'.
    No UK shops.
    No dissing shops.
chit chat will be moderated with a chain saw!
Please provide a link to the store.
Info on if the site is available in English (or other languages).

Pleases try to put one shop per new thread. With a few descriptive words. (why you like/use them). And naturally only shops you have used.

My number one, from 3 is Modellbau Koenig in Germany. It is available in English and 11 other languages. They offer a status system based on purchase worth. Bronze = free shipping in Germany @ €40 +, Silver = % off purchase price + free shipping @ €40 +, and so on...Details on their site. Good service and a great help department. www.modellbau-koenig.de/en

My third is a shop based in Poland, but it appears they have on-line sites everywhere, including the UK. With respect to John, the shop will remain nameless...

Hands down the best actual shop I have ever visited, Magicbox Hobbies in Vancouver. Biggest selection of kits, aftermarket and tools/paints I have ever seen. No website.

I know the one you mean. They are only based in Poland. The 'UK' is just a domain name to appeal to us.

Ian M could I mention it, they really are only in Poland?

I think that the shop Andrew and Allen is referring to might be this one.
Super-hobby.(enter your land letters here lol).
Mine is .dk as has been said it is a Polish shop, they just know how to market themselves.
I use them often (read far to much) and it is one of my go to webshops. A very good selection and good prices. But I will say this. Many of the things I have seen there are more expensive than John. sometimes the same. But add the Duties to UK and they are more expensive!

The next of my go to web shops is Lavprishobby.dk NOT a dedicated plastic pusher, they started out in the model railway world and customers asked 'could you get this....' now they are a pretty good modelshop. Competitive prises a good selection and will always try to get a model, or other things, in if you ask. They have a propper shop as well but to far from me to visit.

One for the floaty things. Modelskibet.dk has as the name suggests a lean to the nautical, but also has a good supply of plastic, paint and metal as well as radio control boats.
It used to be my local shop when I was only 50km away. Now 150km I just use the web shop. Not the cheapest of shops but has some good things for boats....
In Danish but Google does a pretty good job of translating it.

One shop I've used several times is https://www.hobbyeasy.com/ in Hong Kong, they have a wide range of models, including many that don't appear in the European shops. Service via airmail is very good - although, if you use surface mail for economy reasons, be prepared for a long wait...........

ps they have English settings, including prices in GBP

I was also going to recommend Modellbau König, usually very quick service and they have a lot in stock.

In the Netherlands, I would recommend Dutchmodelshop.nl, who also have a good selection of old, collectible and/or second-hand kits. Only downside is their web site could be easier to use.

Plastmodel in Poland also have a wide selection and were quick to deliver my orders the times I’ve bought things there.

Another one I have good experience with, even though I only ordered there once, is Dominomodel in Belgium. Here’s a guided tour I happened across some time ago:

Got to agree with everything that's been said here.

Kits in a lot of cases are quite pricey but I have only ever bought AM parts from them and in particular masks recently. Interestingly I regularly find that they're the only place I can get the masks I want or if not, they're the only ones with a sensible price. I have never had to pay UK tax, so assume that is taken at source but even then prices aren't ridiculous, and their P&P is very reasonable compared to any other EU firms I have used and cheaper than some UK firms too.

They also have an interesting reservation system that allows you to reserve up to £40ish of stuff for up to six months without any cost, for example while you wait for something to arrive and so only have to pay for one lot of P&P. I currently have my first such list running now, which started on 1st Feb!! It has been waiting for two items. One appeared appeared about a week after it was supposed to and the system update automatically, the other is due in in two weeks. If you burst the free limit you have to pay part of full price for the items depending on how long you want to reserve them for......quite how I know this I have no idea!?!? Here's hoping it all works ok.

That said I will be ordering somethings from John soon!

Before the advent of customs duty I have ordered kits from Der Sockelshop, thanks to Dude 1.
Along with a seller on Evil Bay in Hong Kong .

                              BNA Model World in Australia.
Seems strange to be ordering stuff from the other side of the world but for those hard to find AM bits they've come up trumps many a time.
