Upon Caroline's decommissioning in 2011, her future was uncertain. Proposals were made to return the ship to her First World War appearance, which among other things would have involved sourcing and installing 6-inch (152.4 mm) and 4-inch (102 mm) guns of that era and removing the large deckhouse from her midships deck.
I can't tell from the photos what exactly is missing , but total armament should be
- 2 × single 6 in (152 mm) guns
- 8 × single 4 in (102 mm) guns
- 1 × single 6 pdr (2.2 in (57 mm)) AA gun
- 2 × twin 21 in (533 mm) torpedo tubes

There's a big drill hall been built on her from when the sea cadets had her. A shame it's there but it gives a good space for functions on a place of interest and there's been a few weddings. I think the plan to remove this has been abandoned.
All the guns are replicas, the torpedo launchers are not there at all.
The wheel house was closed in, then became a store and has been reopened again to try to restore the appearance during ww1. Which means I am allowed to drill into a wall there.......
She has big arms holding her to the dock, which is flooded so she is afloat.
The timber decking is actually a rare wood that was being illegally imported and was seized and subsequently donated.
One of the curators has told me the only death on board was the butcher falling overboard, so no ghosts.......Comment
