Smallest Size R/C receivers for Ground models

I've been looking around online for a supplier for very small sized mini receivers. Either 27 /40mhz AM or FM. Fm would be preferable, must be BEC.

I've seen FM receivers about 35 x 20 x 10mm - Is that about as small as they get or is there anything even more miniscule available? Or one with squarer dimensions, being slightly shorter than 35mm long. I have a space about 30 x 25 x 20mm That I'd like to fit the receiver into if possible!

I imagine the largest bulk is actually the casing itself and with a bit of care I could possibly shave another few mm from it and sleeve in heat shrink tube - if I can get one for a reasonable sum!

The receiver fits in the cab of my little loco and at present will mean the drivers legs and lower torso will have to be sawn off so he can fit in the cab! The smaller sized receiver would make a nice little seat for him to perch on too!

The smallest one I know of is the Hitec Feather but I think they stopped making it in 40 megs.

You might find one on Ebay or somewhere. They really are very small so might be what you are looking for. This is what it looks like:

I've got one in a boat and it really is dinky!

      Hi Alan,

If you have no joy anywhere else, I would contact Steve Web here

      Steve Webb Models

If it is available, he either has it in stock or can get it quickly. He deals directly with the manufacturers, hence his prices are usually very good.

Have you thought of the idea of buying one of those little RC Chinese boats you get on Ebay for a couple of pounds and pulling it apart? They must have a complete miniature RC set up inside them.

Thanks for the advice - I found some very small receivers, but unfortunately they are aimed at the performance R/C racing car market and hence have a hefty price tag too!

          KO Receivers

I think I can just about get by with one of these -

          P-R114F/40 Futaba R114F 4ch Rx Micro FM40

Which is a tiny: 21.8 x 31.7 x13.5mm, although the servo cables plug into the end of the device rather than the top so they might get in the way on the side where I have the least amount of space to play with.

I got one of these for a project it was a Neptune K/K boat small , I get my bearings of this chap and he is very fast delivery and cheap it works from 4-7 volt and it would only take a 7805 or a few diodes to extend it, you can make it smaller by choping the pins and going direct.

              Peter,

Thanks for that! That's just the thing I'm after - small enough and cheap enough to hack about too!

I've purchased a few things from Hong Kong, they've always come really quickly and in nice little envelopes with raffia or ribbon holding them closed - and cute little colourfull stamps with regional wildlife on them too!
