www.scale-models.co.uk northwest england display team lol

just to let you guys know that at the invitation of scott(noble),myself and ron(spanner) attended a local model boat club gala exhibiting a few of our static models.as we are not members of a club as such when asked by the visitors we marketed ourselves as member of this site.we had lots of interest in our models from loads of visitors and other exhibitors alike and had a very enjoyable couple of days.having never shown models to anyone other than the wife and kids as well as you lot here, i was very nervous about it but after the first few people had been chatting i began to really enjoy myself.took a few pictures but only using my mobile so they are not very good, hopefully ron will be along with some better ones as he had a proper camera.we have been asked to attend next year as well.

Hi folks i have to say that from a personel outlook the weekend was in fact a very successful one, i fully enjoyed myself answering question from visitors and exhibitors alike. It was great to meet Andy for the first time and good to see Ron again, who by the way made a close personl friend....you should ask him about it lololol, unfortunatelly as stupid as iam i forgot to take my camera with me... nerves most likely made me forget it. The offer of t shirts for next year is a nice one from john, yes they loved us that much they want us back next year so if anyone can think of ways to represent the forum better then post a reply. There was a lot of interest in Rons buildings which i have dubbed pizza huts and andys A10 thunderbolt and mitchell bomber went down a treat, the kids loved andys sci fi bits as well, but i would like to say a huge thanks to Andy and Ron who made the weekend a blast for me.... oh yes andy got himself a free 1/35 schnellboot as well......nice one andy cant wait to see it built.

          Hi Guys

Looks like you had a great time at a very nice venue. The stand looks great and you certainly did us all proud.

          Well done you 3!

Them's some dodgy looking blokes sitting behind that table that's for sure

Glad you had fun and the visitors enjoyed themselves, maybe a few have had their eyes opened and will start modeling in some form, that would make it all worthwhile.

Next year you could just drop a banner in front of the table with "Scale-Models" printed all nicely on it and have some A5 size flyers with a few piccies, some modeling info, promote the shop and add the website details for joining the forum.

I don't know how long the show lasts but if possible have someone there actually doing some modeling, you'll be surprised how many people will stop and have a look, natural inquisitiveness always takes over.

I don't believe it. I was there at the show manning the Kirklees Model Boat Club stand and saw you guys but didn't realise it was you. Even my wife was impressed with the diorama's so the display was obviously top notch.

I remember some time ago suggesting on here that we have a stand at various shows around the country but, unfortunately, there seemed to be little enthusiasm for the idea at the time so it never went anywhere. Consequently I think it is great to see the forum represented in this way at one of my favorite events of the year and I hope it continues.

I think a good sized banner would be very useful if one could be organised to get the name out there and get the forum noticed but for a first time the display was certainly very eye catching.

Unfortunately this year there was a model engineering show on at the same time in Manchester and numbers and traders were not as high as normal but introducing Scale Models as well as the RC truck guys added another dimension and both were well recieved. Maybe next time I can stick a couple of models boats on your stand as well!

Great job guys and great PR for the forum.

I would like to thank Scott for inviting me to attend the show. It was great to see him again. Also if was nice to meet Andy (phalinmegob)

We all had a good time, particularily Sott and Andy who took great delight in taking the ***s out of me, when a punter took a 'shine' to me and wouldn't go away!....What he didn't know about railway engines(model and real) and Manx steamers wasn't worth knowing. A few minutes listening is fine, but not an hour!

Andy didn't help by hiding behind partitions and trying to make me laugh......Revenge will be mine!

The public showed a keen interest and many pictures were taken. What a pity we missed Bunkerbarge.....

Cheers fellas. I really enjoyed your company over the two days. A special thanks to Scott for supplying the sausage rolls and Iron Bru!

                          Ron

Edit:- As you can see, Scott was unable to move all day as he was balancing a wrought iron roof support on his head!!!!!!!

Nice one fellas! That's as good a display table as you're likely to see anywhere.

Excellent pictures Ron (except maybe the 1st one - was there a jailbreak?! ) Some very good models on show, I'd be proud to have any of them! I see Scott's winterised Panther there - that was one of the first I saw posted when i joined & it was an inspiration.

                              Cheers
