No initials here but in the same vein.
Bought my wife a BM Allegro. It rapidly became known Internationally as the AGGRO. The most awful car I have ever driven. You may ask why buy it. Reply must have been the most stupid act of my life (well near).
I hate text speak, even in texts. But the one and only bit of text speak I use and only in context of posts, messenger and texts is LOL. Anyway, its the only one I know....!!! easier than working out and finding a smiley.

Don't get me started on text speak, I hate it with a passion! We have a rich & varied language so why not use it properly?
I think they have a great influence on the way some young (easily influenced) singles and couples go about their way of life.
For instance, if you listen to a young couple argueing it is like a scene from a recent episode, they seem to think that this is the way life goes on and emulate it, even using quotations from the episode that have no bearing to the actual problem they have between them.
I've seen it first hand, neither of them back down and when they run out of things to say (or quote) they appear lost and seem to be waiting for the closing end credits.
I actually used a this as some subject matter for a Psychiatric qualification a fair few years ago and it was used in a few lectures afterwards at a private training organisation in Leicester as support documentation to "Visual and acoustic emotional influences on pubescent females".
Wow you've thought about it more than I have! To me, soaps are the Valium for the masses, a way to vicariously enjoy other people's ( imaginary ) problems & so make their lives that much more exciting without the risk of actually experiencing anything real ( and therefore risky ) themselves.
