Dropped into mum’s yesterday to meet the house clearance team and pass her medical aids back, so picked up her post. One letter was from BT. Now, when she passed I contacted them and cancelled her phone. They sent her a letter that said, to paraphrase, “We are sorry you’ve died, but we are just letting you know that your BT services have been stopped as a consequence “. Utterly insane, but it did make me laugh, and I know it would have made her laugh.
Absolute lunacy

Trouble is Mick, I don’t think anyone human had seen it. It’s almost certainly an automated AI generated reply letter. Still, the good news is that if that’s where it’s got to, AI probably won’t be taking over the world anytime soon……Comment

AI? Artificial Idiocy, not needed as there's plenty of the real thing about.
A few weeks after my mother died, the estate agent we'd appointed to sell her house wrote a letter addressed to her, thanking her for choosing XXXX Estate Agents, and inviting her to phone them if there was anything else they could do. The last sentence of the letter was "We are truly sorry for your recent loss".
