    Eduard Decals

    Hi Chaps,
As I'm approaching the decaling stage of my 109 I'm reminded of some deliberation about them on the site a while ago. Can't remember exactly when,or what the outcome was.
I've seen a review of them by Peter Oxley on YouTube, and he found them awful, anyone have some views or advice on using them....or is it just a case of get aftermarket,as he suggested?
    Thanks in advance,
    Andy

The decals on my bf110 were really good. Best part of the kit :tears-of-joy:

They were the newer type where you can remove the carrier film afterwards if you wish. I think they came out in 2020.

I applied them as normal, gave them a day to dry, then picked the film off carefully with a toothpick. I think Tim said he used a blade on his.

Some have had success dissolving the film with mineral spirits. I tried that and maybe I was a bit heavy handed as I removed some bits of the decal too!

Thanks very much for that Andy :thumb2:,
I thought it might have been your 110, but wasn't sure.
I watched Peter struggle, and fail, with trying to remove the film and got a bit put off!:flushed:

Don't get me wrong, it's definitely an exercise in patience, but I managed so it can't be that hard :smiling5:

Hi Andy, this is good to know as my next (rescue from oblivion) build with be an Edy 109. As for Peter Oxley he does seem to have a thing about Eduard. Don’t get me wrong I like his vids but I checked another build vid and there seemed to be no real dramas at all - almost the opposite to the doom and gloom vid of Peter.
To be fair there were some issues with the first few kits (2012?) but since then they have become better with each new issue (I am reliably informed)
The decals seemed a little controversial and Mr Eduard replied on the post a little annoyed stating that it wasn’t rocket science - well, not if you built the rocket I suppose! :smiling5:
Anyway I look forward to your build
