    Scammed!!

What a morning. SWMBO did some on line shopping Monday. Transpired it was a bogus site!! (The old story - if it sounds too good to be true!)

Spent all morning on the blower to the credit card company fraud people!! All sorted now but another new credit card inbound!!!

There are some real low life people out there!!!:angry::angry:

      Glad you got it sorted.

I had something very similar with mum just before Christmas. She bought an air fryer online because it was 50% cheaper than anywhere else. After a few emails informing her of delivery delays she mentioned it to me. Checking out the company brought up so many red flags that I told her to ring her bank and report it as a possible scam.

She clearly wasn't the first as they righted the situation without a quibble.

That got me back tracking!!! I bought an air fryer this week for an up and coming holiday. SWMBO won't use cookers outside of home!!!!!! Saw it on FB. BUT!! Then went to their website by opening a new tab on my browser and searching for their web site separate from FB. Just spoke to them and all ok!!! Phew!!!!
You get twitchy once you've been bitten!!!!

I try very hard not to hate people, but then I read of this sort of scam, and I'm right back to hating people.
What is the world coming to?
Strength isn't about what you can do, rather it's about overcoming what you thought you couldn't do.

Like you say, if it SOUNDS too good to be true...

Here's one to watch out for too. As I work for 'major books and stationery retailer', we're trained to look out for people being scammed unto buying giftcards (usually Steam, Googleplay, Amazon etc.) to pay, apparent tax or other bills. Also, 'the boss asked me to get some.' The last one, I had a customer want you get &500 on cards for an in-house reward scheme.
"We can only do a maximum &300 in one transaction. Have you checked with your boss directly? There's a LOT of scamming out there."
"It was an e-mail, but now you've said, I'll check"
            Next day, the customer returns
"I rang our manager. He didn't know anything about it. Thank you for that."

            My work here is done

              Daily moan
A whole day lost!!! What with walking the dog, which I don't mind at all. The day has been spent either on the phone to my credit card company and then when they did send out the correct forms which they should have done last week. It took me the rest of the day to work through the on line form sifting and sorting all the info they wanted - for one claim!! (I have two). Then I find the form they sent is a one use only form. By then it's the end of their working day so have to wait until tomorrow to start the whole procedure again!!!!
I thought, an hour doing their admin and then I can tackle the Sea King. HA!! Wrong. By dinner time this evening I had lost the will to dabble.

If you think that’s hard Doug, you try getting money out of Eon Next from a deceased relative’s energy account….they force you to go to probate even when there is no legal requirement to do so. Currently this means I’m fielding questions from the government probate service, for whose services I’ve unnecessarily paid 250ukp, to recover a 400ukp overspend on my mother’s gas account. No other institution I have had to deal with has been this intransigent. It makes me wonder how much overspend they manage to keep from deceased customers. After all, if it was less than 250ukp not that many would bother to chase it.
