Thoughts on the new Ultra by H&S

Many on here will remember my problems with the AB. Trouble with the old style needles and tips, now thankfully marked on the actual needle and tip. I ended up using a cheap Neo and going over AK 3rg gen because of the tip drying
I've been looking at the videos on the 2024 Ultra, now to me it seems a dream, esp the method of cleaning the tip with out all the normal striping .
What do you think of it .
    John .

It does seem to be a great airbrush, with some well thought out design changes to make the switch from hand brushing easier, but they should also assist the more competent user.

Lots of good reviews too. Rob has featured it a lot on his own channel (DredFX) and on the H&S channel itself.

It's certainly one I'd consider if I needed another airbrush, although I'm waiting to see what they do with the new Infinity, which I think is scheduled for later in the year.

It looks very good indeed and ideal for beginners. Personally though, I would go for the Evolution 2024. I may indeed do so for a new detail airbrush.

Thanks Andy . Interesting that you as an experienced painter would consider one. My Infinity is in the draw in bits after the mess up with needles.
They've certainly gone to town on the Ultra, it will be good to see the new Infinity later this year and what they have done to it .

Anything that makes the tip easier to clean. Not sure they can improve the Infinity .

You might be surprised John. The only question is whether the new Infinty will be ‘over the top’ for models.

John, I have time to expand on my comment now. Sorry for the curt two word reply.

In a nutshell, the Ultra seems to fill most peoples needs. The unique selector is a real life saver for newbies like me and useful for the more experienced. You can apply large areas and with a twist of the selector ring, apply very small amounts for highlighting or simply adding depth.
The Bain of most folks lives - cleaning. A doddle. Time between different paint colours is in a couple of minutes. Cleaning the nozzle end as as been mentioned is super easy. I have a short haired brush just for that purpose now.
Compared to my last AB it is comfortable to hold and use.
If I had a negative issue it is the open setting. Twice now I have loaded the AB with paint, forgot to move the selector to a paint setting and emptied the contents over my test sheet!!!! Did it twice as I said in my first few sessions and haven't done it since!!!

My only moan at the moment is due to the conditions in my garage I'm not using it as much as I would like. If you commit to purchasing one, I don't think you will be disappointed.

Mine it proving a bit temperamental but I got a feeling its me and not the AB I'm struggling to get the right paint consistency. (Too thick) also miss the lid and spill a bit

                  Thanks Doug.
Didn't think your earlier comment was curt at all .
All though I sprayed with HVLP when I was finishing furniture and doors I've found the old version of the Ultra with the acrylic paint I was using at the time used to put me completely off.

Then I went to AK 3gen , much better , and bought a low priced Neo. The only down side with the Neo is that very. small nozzel.
When the time is right I shall I invest
