Having seen the base John, it looks ideal for resin really.

I feel like it's getting over used, and some seem to include it just for the sake of it, but resin would be just the job for what you have in mind I reckon.

Just saw this Wobble, but I have to run some errands so will post later. Yes sealing is the key and the type of sealant that doesn't react and cause bubbles. PVA is what I use or acrylic clear varnish to prep the surface. Check out my ambush dio for reference.

            Cheers,
            Wabble

I've not had a reply as of yet from Deluxe Materials, so have ordered from Craft Resins.About the same price and It appears from reviews they have a good name.
Can be used in one pour up to 3 inches 75 mm deep. Also has a low temperature while it cures. This is something that has concerned me in the past .
Not going to happen every soon as have the rest of the tank to finish. Figures to prime and paint and of coursevthd base to prepare .

Sorry didn't have time to reply, Wobble. The other thing to check is the curing time. The longer the better like 24hrs...let's all the bubbles reach to the top and then you can use your favourite flame thrower to burst them.

                  Cheers,
                  Wabble

Noticed the pointer about 48 hrs to cure. Waiting for a reply from the manufacture about what type of paint can be mixed in.

Have decided to make a miniature to test the use of Mode Podge.
Not very big , 150 x 100 and 30 deep for the resin. Also to test the use of tape for the front .
This way as @Jakko suggested I will have at least an idea if the sealing works .

Still wet , so will leave for a couple of days before applying a second coat.
If anyone has any idea about sealing XPS please shout out .

Wrote to the supplier asking did Mod Podge seal XPS, had a reply saying it did but allow it to dry well between coats.
Still no reply form Deluxe Materials. :disappointed2:, well they've lost the order anyway.

I'm by no means an expert John but on the few resin pours I've done it was one of the very last things to do, so the foam was already well sealed with the various glues, basing materials, paint etc. I'd used.

Good point Andy, but you know how it is when you want something to go well , I worry about it all leaking out , as It did some time ago.

                                Understandable John.

Have you done a test with the resin itself to see if it eats the foam? If it is safe, how about sealing the foam with the actual resin? Mix a tiny amount and brush it on, maybe repeat when it's dry?
