I remember party sevens that needed a special can opener to get in them. Everyone took them to family gatherings and parties, and nobody had the tool to open them properly :crying: Usually opened by piercing them with a screwdriver and spraying the stuff everywhere. And it wasn’t even good beer……

A real issue in Shropshire. The cuts in bus services have isolated those who can't drive, usually the elderly. I know a taxi driver who gives up every Tuesday to collect elderly people from rural villagers. He tries to keep the fares as low a possible but it is still impacting those who could use their free bus passes. The council plead poverty but they have money for other projects.

Pop man - used to be Alpine pop where I lived.

Co-op bread deliveries, I can still smell of the back of the van when my mom was choosing what to buy.

                    Cheque books.

                    Black and white televisions

Rag and bone men with a horse and cart.

                    My hair :cold-sweat:

                    Geoff.

Almost going back to the days of rural communities having their own independent bus and council owned and run corporation bus services isn’t it. Not sure why it should really be a council responsibility really though Jim. Bus companies used to have to provide these services as part of their charter, much like railways had to transport any freight load offered to them. These days they rent buses to the councils so get the money with none of the risks. Park and ride buses I get, because they are servicing one council run site, but not rural services.

Yep, still miss JP and the whistle test myself. To that you can add The Tube and Rock goes to college. No decent contemporary (or even popular) music programs on terrestrial TV these days. On demand music programs are pretty much just narrow focused sales pitches really so hold no interest to me at all.
