    A sign of the times?

I have just bought the new Revell 1/48 Lockheed PV-1 Ventura.Inside the kit i found a separate leaflet entitled 'Safety Advice'.There are 10 safety rules listed!.Apart from the glue vapour i never realised our hobby was so dangerous!.Think i had best wear my safety boots when i build this one in case i drop one of the parts on my feet!.The kit itself is a superb piece of moulding.A detailed bomb bay with bombs and open doors option is included along with top quality decals.Only £24.99 as well.

Don't forget your hi-viz vest to warn innocent bystanders of the hazardous hobby you're doing Dave!

Despite being a qualified risk assessor, it didnt stop me sticking my airbrush needle in my thumb the other day.

If we all did risk assessments on our work space according to the health and safety standards of today (which Keith will be more up to date than most, that last time i did risk assessment was for the Modern Apprenticeships schemes for the unemployed back in the late 90's) ..... none of us would pass !!!

tubes of super glue left all over the place, paint pots not sealed properly, thinners and the like not stored correctly.

H&S guys would have a field day

Yes & do not forget to blunt all Morton blades before use. Must not have sharps lying around.

Same goes for airbrush needles Keith.

Yes & make sure you wet your fingers before using CA glue ! Hygiene you know.

Full protective gear must be worn at all times, separate areas for gluing, painting etc with each area being taped off, anyone watching must also be wearing full protective equipment...

H&S has been taken to extreme in this country, granted things need to be safe, but 95% of the time it slows work down to a crawl, it was just starting to edge it's way into my old job, things we had done for years safely where now taking 3 - 4 times longer to do...
