How do you decide . . .

. . . on which kit to build next?

I like to link my next build to my ongoing nearly complete build, it's not always obvious but there's a connection, could be the subjects operator, manufacturer or role. . . it just kind of make sense of my modelling universe!

As the JASDF F-104 built is soon to be complete I'm considering one of two for next on the bench

A 1981 boxing of a 1969 mold with an obvious connection to my current build

2012 vintage Airfix kit, described as a 'gem' to build. with a less than obvious connection???

So how do you decide what to build next? A stash rummage maybe, or seeing a build online or in real life, maybe you saw the real thing or read a book, saw a movie or documentary?

Miko (I could probably build the T33a in a day, is that a thing here?)

I've posted a poll when I can't decide - let the forum members pick!

It kind of depends. Sometimes I come across things in books or on web sites that make me think, “I want to build that next,” other times I think about what I have in the stash and decide on which appeals to me most at the moment, or I just get an idea in my head that I want to put together. At least half the time, what I actually build next will be something different because other stuff then interferes.

At the moment, I’m debating whether to build this:—

      or this:—

… when I finish the things I’m working on at the moment (that second one is not just the figures, it’s a complete tank that, as a special edition, comes with those figures). However, I had intended to build one of these two when I finished the M2 halftrack that’s mostly complete at the moment — and then somebody gave me a finished but unpainted Sherman, which moved everything else back.

Good idea, takes away the dilemma and includes the members

I had kind of expected a response along those lines already Whichever one of the two I pick, it will end up as a model of a real tank:

Decals for Churchill are included in the kit, for Champagne I have a separate set that includes markings for it. Champagne still exists, BTW.

I don't keep a stash, so tend to buy something I fancy.

I was bought a kit for my birthday, in March, which I still haven't started because my model area looks like the local tip due to other ongoing works!

That will be my next victim - eventually.

I sit at the bench with a cuppa and look up at the stash...then at the availability of parking spaces!
What I have built last, so something different. Then grab one of the shelf open the box, close the box and pick another...
