For those of us in the Channel Islands tomorrow is the more important day - the anniversary of Liberation Day; the day the German forces signed their surrender aboard HMS Bulldog and the arrival of British forces on the Island. The day is a public holiday and starts with a service of commemoration in the morning. Followed by celebratory events during the rest of the day.

i don't want to monopolise the thread but some may be interested in the monument which commemorates the 50th anniversary which features on an aastronomy site! -it really is impressive Concept.

Spent time visiting/working in the Channel Islands. (Late 70's) Loverly place, loverly people. We were accommodated in an old - very old, civil defence place!! What a wheeze. Loads of history just lying around the place. Even found a box of WW1 inert hand dropped bombs from Bi-planes.
