        Yo! Youngerthanme,

Thought maybe you had gone off to be transgendered or re-identified, joined a protest group protesting about something they know nothing about but believe all the bulloop: foisted upon them.....

Hope you did not have any flooding like they did in the Frankfurt area.... I saw on YT they had it bad.

Sorry to hear about your friends son, my Sister was physically disabled, had pnumonia umpteen times and every time she was read her last rights, and in a way it was a blessing when she seemed to just give up the fight at age 50, sadly miss the playfull arguments we used to have over who got the cherry on the cake....

These electro/mechanical devices do not seem to last as long as the good old clay tablet or that later invention paper and pencil I had the same problem you have had and bought one of these little devices, just in case it happens again....

You can take out the old H/D and plug it into this device, then plug the device into your new all singing laptop and transfer what you like from the old one.

Pleased to see you have been active on the bench and not just lazing about while the rest of us work our eyeballs to zero under the glare of the candle stub on the end of our nose....

Well that is my letter of the day, now the nurse is coming along to massage my head and drip feed me my meds, Oh! to be twenty years younger and the things we could do on my zimmer frame.....

Take care and see you on the forum, and its a pleasure to see you back...

Olderthanyou.... is it cold nurse or are you just happy to see me......

WOW! Thanks so much folks. I'm just having a little trouble with this new toy and it has Windows11 on it. The keyboard is smaller and harder to use than my old one. Ain't easy with the sausage fingers...

Thanks and sorry I missed you there much Olderthanme,

We only had flooding in Downtown Bamberg on one of the RR bridge underpasses. Some knucklehead tried to drive through it and got stranded in a yellow Golf. I guess he swam away to higher ground. His Golf ended up sideways in the underpass. With my friend's son, it was unexpected as he was doing much better and then, bam...

That's the plan with other HD, but my son will remove Windows 10 from the HD first. Then it will become my new external and the old laptop will be recycled to the dump. This new one is an Acer like in your pic Mike. It's an Aspire 3, but doesn't have a CD Rom in it. Guess I'll get an external one for it...

Good luck with the Nursie and keep you hands to yourself Buddy. Oh, and crack on with that Dough thingy your building too...

Yep those Golf's have a lot of trouble swimming, I think it has to do with the water coming in through the air vents....

Thanks Tony and Mike and sorry for the late reply, but it didn't get any better lately either. It seems 2024 has been a really big oop: year for a lot of our forum members, death and health wise...

We had an incredibly hard evening rainstorm and the basement where I live ended up flooded. A lot of my cold war relics got ruined along with many of my guitar books with my favorite songs in them. I had a big mess to clean up and stuff to throw out...

On the same evening, my son almost drown on his way home from work. The same underpass was flooded worse than the last time. He came down the hill and in the curve at the bottom, saw the water, tried to brake, and hydroplaned into the flood. The water was almost 2 meters deep and my son is not the best swimmer on the planet. Luckily, the fire department arrived on the scene at the same time. There was a lot of panic as there were 2 cars in the water and the people couldn't get out of them. The firemen got my son and his bike out and freed the people in the cars. Here's a pic of the scene, taken after the fact, and the water had receded quite a bit. My son was coming from the direction where the photographer is standing.

He was soaked to the bone, but okay. He thanked the firemen, hopped on his bike and went home to get dried out and warm...

So once again, I'll try and get back to doing what I do best.......Giving you lot a hard time and playing ketchup. I also have 2 GB's to get working on in the coming days. Should be a whole lot of fun...

I just want to say thank you all for your understanding and now we can put this thread to bed. Better times are coming and hopefully for everyone on here, as well. I think we've had enough crap for this year...
