    Off the air.

Been off the air since finishing the Sea King. A few events all collided and I decided to just look in every now and then.
I initially intended to have a few days before looking at the Wasp, but first painting the garage which is where I work on my kits.
Then! Son trotted off across the pond for a long(ish) break so I was spending a while tracking him and have a States visit by proxy. I can understand him been worn out when he returned.
Just as he left, for some reason I haven't fathomed, my right heel has given me immense pain. That said, when I walk the dog it doesn't bother me but when I remove my walking shoes - oh how it hurts. I suspect I had a pair of ill fitting slippers that may have bruised the base of my heel causing the pain.
Some big domestic chores had to be competed, one being my garage/work area/bench!!! That still has to be commenced. The main thing is all SWMBO's chores are complete.
Then the bank holiday weekend!! I simply felt like doing nothing, zero, nada. So chilled in the summer house and caught up with some reading.
So! Tomorrow I will start catching up with everything on here and make a good start on the garage as the weather seems to be on my side for a few days.
    By for now folks. Doug

    Hi Doug, read this….
Find out about plantar fasciitis, including the causes, the symptoms and how to ease them, when to get medical help and treatments from a specialist.

I had it for a while and it sound exactly like what you’ve described.

Thanks Tim, That looks and describes my problem to a T. Bleeding annoying when walking around the house. Not being able to put your heel down unless in a decent pair of shoes and actually walking!! It's weird.

Sorry to hear about your foot though mate.

Hope your foot gets sorted. You do know that Honeydo lists are normally written on a never ending roll, right. You will never get to the end. But good luck.

I “cured” mine by wearing crocs around the house rather than normal slippers or going barefooted. Haven’t had a recurrence since I started that.

Mmm, don’t have croc crocs but I do have some flip flop style crocs which have contoured base. May try them. Also, this time of the year I usually pad around bare footed. Something else I’ll change. Cheers Tim.

I was put on to this by the MD in my old company. He was a very bright lad who was extremely adept at scientific analysis and was frankly wasted as an MD (but got much more money for it than he would have as a researcher). His take was that the heel kept the foot supported properly in the right attitude, and the soft spikes inside the Crocs promoted blood flow in the sole of the foot so minimised the problem. Seems he was right.

The croc flip flops have the same inner sole. (Just compared them Swmbo’s).

Really sorry to hear that Doug!

Snap anyway, I've been laid up in bed for the past week and a half because I can hardly walk either - I suffer from the occasional bouts of Metatarsalgia foot pain and am currently in the middle of a bad one now. Basically your foot swells up painfully, usually with a joint pain like someone had put a nail through your foot, and is total agony - even at rest. The only thing you can really do to help it is the old RICE treatment for sprains. I couldn't even put shoes on - one of my feet is half again the size of the other.

Apparently it's caused by extreme pressure to the front of the foot (this latest attack was caused I think by me stubbing my toe badly and then doing two 6-hour plus drives to work and back last week) - walking on hard-floors barefoot being a real no-no.

As Tim said, wearing supportive footware indoors helps. I used to get two or three attacks a year. This is the first attack I've had in nearly two years and it's all because I started wearing cork-sandals (Birkensocks style) indoors instead of going barefoot - get yourself some. They look naff, but it's better than foot pain.

                        Cheers!

Yet another ailment my wife deals with so I can sympathise Doug.

She has some prescription insoles to put in regular footwear but like Tim, wearing Crocs (specifically Croc Literide) around the house has had the most beneficial effect.

I had it when i was a Postman for 24 years.Bad footwear and overuse of feet i was told.Get a couple of good supportive insoles. Can get some Orthaepedic ones designed for plantir. Also get a rolled up towel and put around foot and gently pull toes towards you.Tight hamstrings can be another fascet of the problem.Hope it improves soon.Ive had it a few times.
                            Hope that helps.
