Got to York, parked in a car park by the city walls and holding hands and feeling like Jack the Lad showed Gillian the sights of that great city. Late afternoon and back to the carpark to set off home. Shock of shocks - the car was gone! Panic. Found a phone box and rang dad who was not impressed. He got a neighbour to drive him to York to collect us. Meanwhile Gillian and I went to the Police Station to report the theft and await my dad. I was no longer feeling quite so Jack the Lad.
Anyway to cut a long story short the car was still exactly where I'd left it. I had been looking in the wrong carpark. How was I to know, as a naive 17 year old, that there was more than one large carpark overlooked by the city walls. One length of wall looks very like another.
I knew where that was going.

My wife and I once lost our Garlic press half way through a cookery demonstration. Looked everywhere, even in the bins, never did figure out what happened to it! The real pain was that we lost it before we started to make the Garlic Bread.

That's ok, happens to us all at some point...
Nearly lost the wife a few months ago, went weekly shopping and parked the car almost in the same spot, got the shopping and as usual she was lagging behind... So I had loaded up the car, got rid of the trolly and was sitting in the car as she approached a car the same colour but three down from me, gave the poor bloke a scare when she opened the passenger door... The realising her mistake, walked past our car to another of the same make, got in the passenger seat, and sat there for all of a minute before realising it was another mistake.... Good job the lady driver of the car had been sitting watching the fun.... Yes, I did rescue her....

Oh to dream!!!!!!! Especially on a shopping expedition!!!
I have to insist SWMBO has her phone with her every time we go out together. The only person I know who has lived here for nigh on 50 years and she still gets lost in town!!! We only have 2 main streets!!!!!

Actually he forgave me. In fact he found my embarrassment quite amusing. My relationship with Gillian was short lived though :rolling:
