    1/72 Resin "X" Planes

Just found this site. an american company that make resin prototype planes. mostly 1/72 but they do other stuff as well. some really nice stuff and very wierd/interesting machines.

the sites quite nice as well as pretty much all the kits have some pictures of the real thing and some background info on them as well, so even if you dont want to spend $50 on a model. At least you learn something!!

Anigrand Craftswork - resin model kit of airplane, spacecraft, helicopter, VTOL miliary vehicle, experimental aircraft prototype

Got a few im going to have to ask for for my birthday

....which by the way is April 24th ...hint hint lol

        Howdy Richard,

Yes Anigrand makes some really nice models, I found them a while back when Charlotte, (Aerynpeak) started her thread on her C-5 Galaxy.

Another site you might want to look at which also has many strange aircraft is found here: Unicraft Models

I think you will be amazed at the things that not only the germans were working on, but also the french as well as the soviets.....things like the flying sub, the flying tank and many many other strange models. This is where I ordered my Global Hawk kit from. The UAV's pae is here: Unicraft Models

        have a good day,

        Greg

Have got a couple of Anigrand's models via lonewulfmodels (it works as a google search). So far satisfied by subject, easy of building, etc.

The luftwaffe 1946 'paper projects' stuff is interesting, but a few similar Brit, US or Russian paper prototypes exist as well.

Well worth a look, and cheaper than importing one from the US.

            A resin non-'X'-plane

Just got the Anigrand D-558-1 in the post; looks good, fine thin parts, canopies for two versions, colour and markings for all three.

First planned in 1945 it says here...

The white version should be easy enough, but the red one; is the 'signal red' colour the USAAF marking red, or what? It looks a little orange in the photos I can find; is it the USA's fire-engine red?

The Brit equivalent would probably be RAF bright red, which is also 'Post-Office red'. But this looks to be too red.

            Opinions? :noidea:

for the red that also looks a bit orange, you will find it is the same as the USCG use one their seahawks. sorry i dont know what the red is called, but its quite easy to achieve if you start with inisignia red and add a bit of orange.

                Howdy sacrsa,

Ok well i built the old (like late 1950's) model by revell, and painted it orange like i had seen in photos in google images.

Below are pics of the model i built:

Anyway this was a pretty fast build of only maybe 20 pieces and it had those terrible raised lines where the decals were supposed to be placed. The orange color i used was just called "orange" by krylon. I am sure the anigrand kits are of better quality.

                Have a good day,

                      sacrsja.

can you get testors paints? they do the USCG red and orange.

red is AN509, and the Orange is AN508.

go to the testors site and search for coast guard and you will find them.

                      hope that helps,

                      Richard

Great! Can you quote an FS- or British Standard (BSS) number for this red? 'Signal' Red?

The oranges I find in the Tamiya and Humbrol ranges look 'oranger' rather than orange-red. Perhaps a mix is the best way to go. Maybe White Ensign have mixed this under their USA range of enamels.

Or I shall do the earlier white 'plane (I like the early bubble cockpit on the first example). All this for the D-558-1 straight-wing Skystreak.

The other kit from Anigrand that I have so far for this 'X'-project of mine is the D-588-3 'Skyflash', an unbuilt prototype/paper-project plane.

Found internet images of a wind-tunnel / demo model, which appears to be aluminium or grey in the black and white pic.

Anigrand suggests the 'Skyflash' was intended to be white (probably like the late X-15 flights). It also has a large ring at the rear, that looks like the 'plane might have been intended to be mounted atop an ICBM like the 'Dyna-soar'?

                            Skystreak on the go

Have begun my Anigrand resin D-558-1, cockpit is mostly painted, according to the NASA black and white pics: grey, aluminium, black panel.

Researching the actual 'plane, it looks like the undercarriage legs are red on the red 'plane, and white on the white 'plane; with at least the nose gear doors coloured likewise on the interior side. :thinking:Could be that the only colour images are influenced by how a magazine cover is printed, however; with hand coloured seperate plates based upon monochrome or colour originals. If there was a D-558-1 in a museum... but it seems all of the early ones were destroyed.

By the way, how do I post photos in a post? Just copy and paste from my pictures folder? Thanks in advance.

                              D-558-1

Have got somewhere with my Anigrand D-558-1 Skystreak; mostly together, interior made and painted, outside undercoated, cleaned, painted.

                              Hope some pictures show below:

Nope: how is it done? any information, or even answers would b appreciated.
