    Modelling room redesign rethink

I have been spending time having a major clear up and redesign. Have either sold or thrown out a lot of stuff. Mainly armour stuff, kept for that never built job or those famous words, ' I'll need that some day"!

Bought a few hobbyzone storage box's and but dividers into one of the IKEA drawers to tidy up the PE tools. Nice and neat now.

Very pleased no more dust collectors! Still tinkering but everything close to hand now. Way overdue and in my opinion much needed!

However with mum leaving me her house we have a big decision to make. Do we move there and renovate it or buy another possibly a bungalow. If we do move into mum's I'll have a
modelling room built in the attic, as long as it does not have a dormer I do not need planning permission. So I can do everything in the room. So time to put my thinking cap on.

One thing to remember about putting a work room in the attic....especially if it dosnt have a window......is that it gets very hot in summer

I don't know how old or how fit you are Bob, but my work room is in the loft and while it gives me a huge amount of space, I am increasingly aware that the time will come when I struggle to climb the ladder....

            Hi Neil

63 not out but have ME. Mum's house is in the same ave, so virtually identical. You may think why possibly move? Mum's house unlike ours is almost level, so no set of steps in the front or a flight of steps down to the garden, so much better for Julie. Still of course has interior stairs so may have a stair lift fitted. Julie is not convinced at the moment about a bungalow, I am working on that lol

So without a attic room I would have to copy what I have now. Using the small bedroom for building and garage for spraying. I want to avoid that. So a attic room is ideal. My plan is a proper room with fixed stairs, loo and basin and separate eves storage. Big velux for plenty of light and Aircon. Watch this space lol

            If it goes ahead I

Chris, an extension to a roof that adds a flat bit, like this.

              Si vis pacem, para bellum.

fair point Bob , I covet a set of stairs LOL. Or better still a LIFT!
AND a window, but the house has such character I don't want to spoil it with a modern 'carbunkle'.
But we know we will have to downsize eventually as it's just the two of us now, so a bungalow is my ideal.
Whether I get away with it remains to be seen....
I wish you joy, it sounds like a good plan
