Help Needed for newbie

Hi All

I have just got back into military modelling and have decided to take the plunge into the airbrush world.

I think I've narrowed the airbrush down to either a Iwata HP-C Plus or Eclipse CS. The HP-C plus i found for under £80 on Ebay (from Hong Kong) Has anybody experienced problems with ordering airbrushes from international sources? I.e are they authentic. They look ok.

Also Compressors are proving hard to choose and understand.

I was looking at the Iwata Smart Jet Pro, but i really need some advice on a good compressor that''s silent, has the reservoir tank for pulsing reduction e.t.c and if possible cheaper than £230.

I find the Badger series is very good. I dont use it much as I prefer the Tamiya spray cans. my Badger is good for spraying Xtracolour Varnish for weathering though.

Hi Sputnik23 and a warm welcome to the forum.

I am not familiar enough with airbrushes to comment but I have just purchased a compressor so can give you some help there. This is just over your budget but it really is a superb piece of kit and well worth the extra few pounds:

You must have a compressor with a decent reservoir to maintain a constant pressure otherwise you are wasting your time with any airbrush. This compressor is particularly nice as is very quiet in operation so doesn't distract you with awfull noises when it cuts in. You could easily run other air tools from it as well and I use mine for testing and running in steam engines. The compressor is actually a refrigeration unit which is why it is so quiet but it is also very efficient and has a built in pressure cut out switch and a regulating valve on the discharge.
