Gamesworkshop Gamesday at the NEC - Dioramas

I went to this years Games Workshop Gamesday at the Birmingham NEC earlier today.

I was really struck by the high quality and realism of the dioramas and vehicle painting on the Forgeworld Designers stand. So impressed I bought the book Model Masterclass - Volume One

This book has a wealth of beautifully documented step by step painting advice and modelling techniques. The techniques in the book will suit many types of modelling, military vehicles, dioramas, sci fi etc. The terrifically detailed and painted models which feature in the book are by Phil Stutchinskas and Mark Bedford, notable award winning military modellers. If you have a larger Games Workshop store I'd recomend you take a leisurely browse through this book if they have one on the shelf! I'm sure you will be suitably inspired and suprised, and might help improve the quality of your own models!

I'm thinking of using the weathering techniques on a rake of 16mm Garden Railway open wagons. Should work a treat!

My son is into the Lord Of The Ring characters from Games Workshop so I have spent a little time browsing their books. They are very good quality and I have pondered buying one several times. I'm usually talked into getting more figures instead!

Hobby World also stock the models and books if you don't have a GW nearby.

Used to be into WH40,000 way back when, collected Space Wolfe's and Orks mostly with a few others thrown in for goods measure if I can get some pics shall post "note to ones self charge camera" made loads of scenery.

I was really impressed with the detail of their white metal figures some were really stunning works of art. Cost me a fortune.

Have a few of their books and as you say very good quality with stunning dioramas and some very interesting techniques, but they are old now so I should imagine the newer stuff has a lot more in them.
