    Falklands hero ...bravo november

Did anyone watch the program " Falklands hero Bravo November" that was shown on Discovery last night 27.3.12. What a fantastic story.

In a nutshell, Mike Brewer is filming in Afghanistan, goes up in a Chinook heli callsign BN, goes out to rescue some injured soldiers, gets shot at, pilot gets shot in head, manages to get BN back to base with Mike Brewer totally shaken up. Mike Brewer realises that this particulat heli was the only survivor from the stricken Atlantic conveyor(Falklands war) and has a done a program on its history. Well worth watching. It may be repeated this week and continues next Tuesday. This aircraft is a must for the heli guys with its history.

      Aptly named Steve Bravo November.

The aircrew were real heroes having to not only to run the gauntlet of enemy fire & navigation in pitch black conditions but flying a Helicopter which was for all intents & purposes clapped out before it was half way through it's mission..

And. Without a door on one side. Had a chuckle when they related landing, at the end of the conflict, next to a captured Argentinian Chinook jumping down with a screwdriver removing the Argentinian door & fixing onto the Bravo November.

I followed this conflict hour by hour so nervous about our "troops" out there. I had not realised at that time how this Chinook had carried out this incredible achievment.

Hi Ian./laurie.What a truly manificent aircraft with an amazing history. I remember watching Mike Brewers series when this event unfolded. How that pilot kept his composure is beyond me. the program made gripping viewing. What a hero.
